Hi, since I'm also facing this issue, I will provide the requested Info!

Device: HP ZBook Firefly 14 inch G11 A Mobile Workstation PC

OS: Windows 11 Pro 24H2

Spotify Version: Spotify for Windows 64Bit 1.2.55.235.g5eaa0904

Maybe this issue is related to Windows 11 somehow? I do not recall having this issue with Windows 10.

For me the problem happens when listening to music on my headphones, doesn't matter which headphone I use, I tried the following: AirdPods Pro, Sony WH1000XM4 and Bose QuietComfort.

Hope this helps!

If further information is needed I'm happy to provide it!

Hey @XAMXAM1,

Thanks for the input! Seems like a Windows 11 setting might indeed be responsible for this.

Have you looked into the Volume Mixer I've mentioned a few posts above? You can right click on the taskbar speaker icon to access it, I'm on Windows 10 but it should be in the same place for Windows 11 as well.

I'm wondering if the values are different for you for the Spotify app & your headphones?

If they look alright, try adjusting either volume and let us know if anything makes a difference ๐Ÿ™‚
Much appreciated!

Hi!

I just checked my audio output and they're all maxed out

XAMXAM1_0-1738409514648.jpeg

I also  tried playing around with those settings but it doesnt make any difference.

But it really seems to be somehow tied to Windows 11, I updated to the latest Spotify version on my Windows 10 PC and the problem definitely does not occur there!

Hi Maria,

I have the same issue. I have tested on my devices: a Windows 10 laptop, a Samsung S10 phone, wired Urbanears headphones and JBL Tune Beam wireless/bluetooth ear buds.

Volume works on

  • phone + ear buds, blue tooth
  • phone + wired headphones
  • laptop + wired headphones.

Volume does NOT work on

  • laptop + earbuds, blue tooth

No matter what the settings are.

Hey folks,

Thanks for all the info you've sent!

We've forwarded it to our tech folks, so that they can have a closer look. As soon as we get an update from them, we'll update you in the thread.

Take care.

I also have this problem - and it has been quite a while now. I connect my Jabra Elite 4 active to Spotify.

My device is Macbook Pro, M3, macOS Sequoia 15.1.1.

When I connect Spotify to Sonos Move, there is no problem. No problem with the sound just from the computer either.

I havenยดt been troubleshooting until now - and since I found this thread with so many similarities, I canยดt imagine, that the solution is about reinstalling, using other accounts and so forth...

Been with this issue since early January. My laptop runs on Windows 10. These are my specs:

Lenovo Ideapad 330-15ARR Type 81-D2.

Spotify Desktop version: 1.256.502.0

Hey everyone,

got a solution/workaround. It looks like the problem is the spotify app (I installed it through MS Store). When I tried the web app it plays normaly. You can simply "install" the web app as if it was a desktop one in Windows (MS Edge - search bar - install app; Chrome has it too I think) and enjoy correct volume again.

I just started having this issue yesterday (out of the blue--no updates). I tried all the above suggestions right up to and including uninstall/ reinstall. None of it worked. App is unusable operating this way--spotify volume turned all the way up and still barely hearing the music then getting blown away by other system sounds. My solution was uninstalling the app permanently and using the web interface on the website. Volume on the web interface (through Firefox browser works fine).

this is not my pc problem nor that of my Bluetooth speaker, I played the same song on youtube and it was louder. just in case anybody knows the solution.

Guys, there's a problem with the sound in the newer versions of Spotify. I tried the old version of Spotify, and it has the same sound as the web version. So, they have reduced the volume in the newer versions.

Hey, thanks for looking into this!

I've tried with both my Sennheiser HD 200 Pro headphones and some apple earphones aswell and had the same issue.

I'm on a window 10 desktop computer

My current spotify version is:
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.57.463.g4f748c64

The issue atleast for me is only on the spotify desktop app, both mobile and the web player works like normal. I have tried uninstalling the desktop app, removing all files that had anything to do with spotify and then install the app again with no luck. I've had 2 OS updates (windows update) since I started noticing this happening and those haven't helped either.
Despite everything else audio related on my computer is working fine I've tried troubleshooting my audio drivers with no luck either.

Marked as solution

Thanks everyone for the reports of this. We've had a look and it looks like this might be related to the recent transition of the Windows desktop app to the WASAPI driver architecture. This change updated the volume curve to align more closely with how applications behave in Windows, but after testing we've confirmed this hasn't affected max volume levels.

Can I ask that you ensure that audio normalization is enabled or disabled consistently across both the web player and desktop app, as this can cause differences in perceived loudness.

In my case, audio normalization is enabled in all Spotify apps: iPhone, Windows and Web.

But the Windows app still seems to be noticeably quieter than the other apps.

In both my Windows version and Web player, audio normalization is enabled. But as the user above, the Windows app is quieter than the web version and other sites like YouTube.

Here are two images with the volume bars in both the web version and windows app version.Volume bar web player.pngVolume bar Windows App.png

As you can see in the Windows app, I have to raise the volume on the bar to equal the volume that I use on the web player. Before this issue appeared, I used to have the volume bar on the Windows app like I have it on the web player version.

This is not the solution. Spotify's own article on loudness normalization notes that the web player doesn't use it.

Quote: "Note: The web player and 3rd-party devices (e.g. speakers and TVs) donโ€™t use loudness normalization."

As such, I have it disabled in the windows app and it still has a large disparity between "perceived loudness", but the web player is still about twice as loud as the web app, my volume sliders are identical between the two. There are a lot of people with this issue. Just writing it off as "well, your settings are different" when it was working just fine previously is disingenuous at best.

I'm on Win 11 Pro Version 10.0.26100 Build 26100.

I can confirm the behavior in the previous post. Even without normalization, the difference in volume is noticeable.

Hey bro. Basically i had the same problem and all i did was go to the settings then turn off normalize volume.
