My Question or Issue
None of my playlists will download anymore and I don't know why. I tried disabling my firewall, changing the offline storage folder, uninstalling and reinstalling and clearing the cache and nothing is working. I also can't play any other music that is outside my playlists. I tried playing some that isn't in any of my playlists and the control panel goes blank. The only way my music will download is if I play it for a few seconds.
I'm a premium user on Windows 10
Hi there @Reece8
Thanks for reaching out and welcome aboard to the Community! If you cannot play songs outside of Liked Songs or your own playlists, then that sounds like this behaviour here. Check out that thread, try the troubleshooting provided and send any requested logs. As for the downloading issue, what is the behaviour exactly? Send us some screenshots or a video of the behaviour so that we can takke a look. Also, does downloading work on other devices?
Let us know how it goes.
having a same problem right now, I can't play any song that isn't downloaded on my pc,
Spotify still works normal on my android and on web.
Premium user.
EDIT: restarted my pc and that did the trick
Downloading works fine on my phone. Whenever I try to download on my computer it stays on a loading symbol and won't progress further. Yesterday I couldn't play any of my music at all but I can today. Can you link the thread again too please? It's not showing up in your answer.
Restarting won't work for me. I've tried reinstalling, flushing caches and other things and it still won't work
Hi there @Reece8
Thanks for the info. Does this happen with any content you try to download? Can you try perhaps ask a friend to login with their Premium account on your device and see if the downloading works then?
Keep us posted.
Hey. I just tried the fix in your link but neither of the command lines will work. Resetting the repository didn't work either. As for what I can download, nothing will work. I don't know any other people with Spotify premium so I can't try downloading their stuff onto my playlists.
quality songs!
Hey @Reece8,
Thanks for getting back to us.
In that case it's worth restarting your PC in Safe Mode with Networking to see if the issue would persist there. Safe mode basically allows only the core Windows programs to run, which would help us narrow down the probable cause for this, as it's possible that another program is interfering with Spotify. Head here to see how to do that.
If the issue persists, would you mind checking with a different network connection to see if it makes any difference? In case you don't have another one available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test it.
Let us know how things work out, we'll be keeping an eye out for your reply 🙂
I tried restarting in safe mode and it made no difference. I can't connect to another network either since I don't have a wifi card in my computer.
Hey @Reece8,
Thanks for the reply.
Is it possible to try USB tethering through a mobile device? This way you can check, if a different network brings different results.
Keep us posted,
Cheers!
Just tried tethering and that didn't work either
Hey @Reece8,
Thank you for keeping in touch.
If the issue persists after the tethering process, it could be related to some specific cache stored on your device. In this case, we'd recommend clearing any entries that contain "Spotify" from the host files on your computer. To do so, you can follow the instructions in this post (even if it's a different issue).
After this, restart your computer and try again to see if it makes any difference.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
I just tried this fix and I didn't have any host files stored on my computer. I think I tried this a while ago but there's still nothing there.
Hi there @Reece8,
Thanks for the reply.
I'd recommend also trying these possible fixes:
