Songs won't play songs off an album.

Songs won't play songs off an album.

So, I'm trying to play an album. All the songs play perfectly fine... except for one song. One song on the album won't play, and when I press the song, it plays a completely different song. And when this different song plays, the repeat and shuffle button gets greyed out. But other than that one song, every other song works fine. And it always seems to be the best song on the album that doesn't work. Spotify, fix this, because I'm getting sick of you never working, istg you have gotten worse.

Hey @godspeed_cat,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome!

This playback behavior sounds odd and we'll need some more info to investigate what's causing it.

Since you've posted in the Desktop Windows section, could you test in the Web Player as well and let us know if the same thing happens there?

If this happens with a particular album and/or song, it'd be great if you could send us the links so we can also have a look.

Also, if it's a specific album let us know if the track is last in the album and if the particular content is explicit. Keep in mind that if you've switched off explicit content in the settings, anything with an explicit tag is grayed out and it’s automatically skipped.

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

hi.

heres the thing, this problem is happening on the web player, and on the app it says that spotify can't play this right now.

the songs are "Repeat Offender" by Snuffed on sight (this song is explicit) and "The snowbird strut" by Jesse Gallagher. these are the only two songs that are doing this currently. pls fix this its really frustrating.

Hey there @godspeed_cat,

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

We couldn't replicate this behavior. In that sense, we'd suggest you make sure you haven't blocked any of the artists that collaborate on these tracks. We've noticed the first one is a collab between 2 artists, so we'd recommend you go to their respective profiles to make sure the content is not set as Do not Play this. If they are, you'll see a 🚫. To unblock it, you just need to tap it.

If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • Are you using Connect when trying to play these tracks?
  • Are you using Bluetooth devices when trying to play this content?
  • Do you use a VPN service?  If yes, try switching it off. Keep in mind Spotify doesn't officially support VPN. This means that issues with the app while using VPN are expected behavior.

Keep us in the loop!

hi.
no, none of the artists are blocked, and im not using connect. and regarding vpns, it does it with and without a vpn
and now for some reason, when i press the songs, they dont play anything at all.
idk what is happening.
ig i should tell you this: I use brave, and this is the only browser thats doing this, every other browser/the app just says spotify cant play this right now.
help pls

Appreciate the cooperation @godspeed_cat.

Would you mind explaining the situation once again so we can get a better understanding as it's a bit confusing?

You mentioned that when you pressed a specific song, it would play a completely different one and now the two specific songs that you sent don't play at all. Does this happen only with these 2 particular songs or others as well? Did Spotify start playing the other song when you pressed the first one?

You mentioned that the Brave browser is the only one that does this. Do you mean that it simply won't play the tracks, but it doesn't show the error message "Spotify can't play this right now" unlike other browsers?

It's also worth mentioning that there's currently an Ongoing Issue thread here which sounds like the issue that you're describing. I recommend taking a look and sharing your details there if it sounds similar to what you're experiencing.

Thanks once again and keep us posted.

hi.
so whats happening with me is when i search the songs up and i get the big play thing

godspeed_cat_0-1736414669637.png

(this thing)

when i search this up and press play it used to just play a different song and grey out the repeat and shuffle buttons, but now when i press it it just plays nothing. and when i play the songs on the album it doesnt even play, but all the other songs on the album play perfectly fine.

and when it does this it doesn't show the "spotify cant play this right now" error, but other browsers and the app do.
and that other thread doesn't have the issue im having right now. it started happening when an ad was playing and i accidently closed the tab while the ad was playing (this ad was before repeat offender) and after that spotify just stopped working properly. and the ad thing only happened with repeat offender, thats probably whats causing it. but then it randomly started doing it with the snowbird strut and i cant recall getting an ad before the snowbird strut before it started doing this

Hi @godspeed_cat,

Thanks for getting back to us with this info.

We're still unable to replicate this behavior from our end. Could you give it a try using a different account to see if you notice any difference? You can borrow a friend's or a relative's account if possible, or you can create a new one for testing purposes.

Keep us posted on how it goes.
