Spotify won't open and I can't uninstall or reinstall

Solved!

Spotify won't open and I can't uninstall or reinstall

When I try to open Spotify nothing happens. Not even an error message or something.

The same when I try to uninstall it. Just nothing happens..

When I try to reinstall it, it says 'installing spotify'. And again boom, nothing happens afterwards.

Can someone help me?!

I already got a solution for some time, (a couple minutes after I started this topic) Sorry i'd never posted it here.

My bitdefender antivirus was blocking the spotify process.

I went to bitdefender config -> antivirus -> exceptions -> processes and added spotify (allowed)

Hope this helps you! 🙂

Hello!

I seem to have found a solution! At least it worked for me.

First go to C:\Program Files and delete the Spotify folder.

Then go to C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Roaming and delete the Spotify folder.

Then go to control panel and delete Spotify from the programs list.

Let me know if this worked for you too! 🙂

Btw, Im running win 8 pro 64 bits!

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

Do you have Internet Connection Sharing enabled on any of your network cards?

Spotify doesn't seem to like that setting for some reason!

If you are having issues, can you try an uninstall and reinstall whilst in Windows safe mode with networking and see if it then works?

Instructions to boot into safe mode with networking are here:

You're welcome guys! 🙂

Happy that it works for all of you

Yes, it helped. Thank you!

Just a heads up, I had the exact same issue and use AVG Anti-virus. Adding an exception for the Spotify process in AVG fixed the issue also.

Good to know that it also works with other AV programs! 🙂

It makes sense now. It started doing it after I got bitdefender.. thanks +1

UP UP.

Seeing a lot of people who still experience this problem..

The solution is close 🙂 (in here!!)

Where can I see the configuration setting?

Hi

Thanks for the bitdefender solution. I can find 'exclusions' (2015 version for 'exceptions') but can't find the file path for spotify. Any pointers? Screenshot attached.

Thanks

James
