I've been trying to log in for about an hour or two now and all I keep getting is that message. I changed my password, nothing. Not sure what I should do. I'm about to restart my computer to see if that will work.
Anyone know what to do or has anyone had this problem as well? I can't find anything online about it.

I'm having exactly the same problem. I do NOT have any proxy or vpn, I am on a regular home internet connection with no corporate filtering. Launching the spotify app from my windows desktop and clicking "login with facebook" button causes my browser to open and display a white page that says "You may now close this window." and nothing else happens. Spotify does not login. Pretty sure my internet is fine because my android phone and ipad are playing spotify without any issues over the same wifi as the windows laptop.
EDIT - I changed my default browser from Firefox to Internet Explorer and then clicked the login with Facebook button. This caused IE to launch instead, and presented me with a facebook login page. I logged in, and then the Spotify app logged itself in and now works. Maybe this is an issue with Firefox? Oh well, at least I have a work-around. I just hope I don't have to keep constantly switching default browser just to auth spotify to facebook...
Hey, Im having the same problem. I kinda found a way to make it work without using Facebook to log in. I disconnected my current wifi connection and used my phone as a hotspot. It works this way. But when connected to my home network, thats when it gives the error. I don't really know why, maybe its a router problem, whatever it is, im hoping it'll be fixed soon. If maybe you already found a fix, please post it up for those of us still having this problem. Thanks.
Same here...
Hi All,
I have just been having this problem on the desktop app and wanted to share what fixed it for me.
Just by coinceidence I happened to have my Android phone plugged into the desktop charging via USB.
Whilst the phone is connected, spotify desktop won't connect and I get the service unavailable message when trying to log in.
As soon as I unplugged the phone, it connected straight away.
Might not be the solution for some of you, but may help some.
Cheers,
Rob.
okay i have had this problem for a while now, but i finally resolved it. this may not work for you but it worked for me.
what i did was completely uninstalled my spotify and reinstalled it again

Follow it and that might work, cheers
The 'xxxx' stands for?
It work for me with linux (updated on ubuntu 16.04), you should create this folder if not exist.
{HOME}/.config/Spotify/Users/{your_name_user}-user/prefs
In prefs file add this 2 lines.
network.proxy.addr="proxy_host:port@protocol" network.proxy.mode=2
I'm having the same problem... Maybe they've gone out of business...
Maybe not... the music potion of their website says unavailble..
Other areas seems to be working.
I had this issue, and I was super confused, buit then I entered my acual password instead of the one I was trying to use (only difference was a capital letter). it worked.
