Hi @raej1616,
Welcome to the Spotify Community!
Could you share the exact version of Spotify you're running along with a short screen recording which captures the app's behavior in action? If possible, try logging in to another account (a friend's or a relative's would do) to see if the issue would persist.
We'll be on the lookout for your reply. Cheers!
Version: Spotify for Windows (64 bit), 1.2.26.1187.g36b715a1
I am not able to try another person's Spotify to see if it persists, but I can say that Smart Shuffle also doesn't work when I am using the web version. It used to work on the app version but now does not. It does work on my phone's version of the app, though, and I just discovered that if I open Spotify on my phone and close it and then open the app version on my computer, Smart Shuffle starts working again, so I'll just try that workaround for now. Regardless, it's a weird bug.
I’m just going to add a post here because I have the same problem even if I restart app or phone - regular shuffling works though. I like smart shuffle so 👍
Hi @SherieBach,
Thanks for your reply in this thread.
We'll need to gather more info about what's happening first. Can you share a more detailed description of the situation? Do you not get the option to enable Smart shuffle? Or you do have it, but it's not adding recommendations to your playlists? Additionally, let us know if you've tried any troubleshooting steps to fix it (e.g., a reinstallation, a soft reset, a different device).
Lastly, send us the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're running.
We'll keep an eye out for your reply!
Thanks for the info @SherieBach!
If Smart Shuffle always generates the same order of songs in the queue, you might be experiencing this issue which our tech folks are currently investigating. Make sure to subscribe to the thread from the three dots menu so you're notified of any updates on the matter.
In case you meant something else, a short screen recording which captures the exact behavior of the app in action, along with the details @Susan_GP requested would be greatly appreciated - that way we can get a clear idea of what's happening on your end.
Cheers!
I just started to have the same issues with smart shuffle. If I chose a playlist that I have regular shuffle on and play a song and click to smart shuffle, the song selected continues to play but the next song will not play. Also, when I try to play the next song or select a different song it will not play. The smart shuffle turns on and after a few seconds it turns off automatically. I get a notification that spotify is offline, but I go online on my device to find out how I can fix this issue. I have version 8.9.32.624 on my device. I have done all the steps that I can think of, I’ve turned the app off and on, closed and restarted the app, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, cleared cache and deleted all data. What can I do to fix this?
Hi @erk90,
Thanks for the reply. Your issue seems to be a little more in depth than the rest here. Could you please provide us the following:
With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.
Keep us posted.
i have this problem too. i think what caused it was because I kept liking songs and then removing them which probably broke the algorithm for smart shuffle on my liked songs playlist. you’re probably just going to have to make a new spotify account.
nvm i got it to work for me again by just deleting the app and reinstalling it.
I have the same problem. When trying to use smart shuffle is not making any recommendations. I have to restart the app or hit the smart shuffle multiple times until it luckily and randomly works.
I have the latest version of Spotify that is available on the Play Store for Samsung S24 ultra
Hey @rssrys,
Welcome to the thread 🙂
Try clearing out your app's cached data and if this doesn't help - see if a complete clean reinstall of the app would make a difference.
Keep us posted!
This is the closest topic. Smart shuffle is not working. The tips are wrong and shuffled. When you think you turn on shuffle and the tip says so, it is Smarting etc. I don't write here the whole sequence. You have to watch the que what is happening. The tips are: shuffle, smart, off. Functions are smart, shuffle, off. Hope this helps.
yeah the same thing is happening to me
i'm on
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.45.454.gc16ec9f6
Uninstalling the app on mac, and reinstalling the latest version fixed the issue for me. 🙌
12/11/2024 and this is STILL an issue. I've deleted and redownloaded the app, fully reset my phone, updated my phone, nothing fixes it. Why does Spotify not address this?
I am on version 9.0.10.409 and am having the same issue. I noticed it yesterday (Jan 14). I was playing a playlist, clicked shuffle and the one song played on repeat (shuffle with the dot underneath) I tried to toggle to the regular shuffle and it continues not to work. I have updated the app and cleared cache. Restarted.
