[All Platforms] Ability to block certain Genres

Similar to blocking an artist or certain tracks from appearing, but I want to be able to just not see anything of certain genres. I have zero interest in them, and all it does is annoy me to see them.

Hey everyone,

It seems that this idea ended up in the wrong board accidentally, so we're bringing it back.

We're keeping the previous Not Right Now status, as we don't have any immediate plans to implement this. As soon as we have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here.

It's worth mentioning that a Not interested button was recently introduced in the mobile app, which you may find intriguing, as it allows you to further improve the recommendations you get from Spotify. More info here.

Take care.

"We're not going to do this" is a pretty infuriating response to what people have posted here. You guys keep telling me that I love Christian rock and I hate it, but you keep shoveling it down my throat because one or two songs I did like were by artists who also did some religious music. And there's absolutely no way for me to correct this. That's absolutely ridiculous.

Good example addition to the argument.

My beef is listening to classical without getting opera. Have to delete or fast forward.

10 screens of comments and your reply is we’re not gonna do this? BS. You ain’t listening.

Ok now I know why I stopped using Spotify. They thought about it and said "nah, let's subject people's ears to rape instead of letting them block out stuff they hate". Gross. Sitting here listening to metal to have a jarring transition to country ad is painful. I'll just dig up the CD myself, jeez.

I see it's been a while since this post was initiated. I just wanted to create an idea similar to this, but I stumbled against this post. That idea, if implemented, could be very useful imo since (in my case) there are artists and music genres that keep getting recommended to me and I really don't want those.

Filtering on Spotify contents should allow for users to block sexual content including any LGB podcasts and music. As well as opting out of all virtue signal boosting such as black history month, pride and women’s month. My music and podcast suggestions should be tailored to me and not to the agenda of Spotify on any given month or the sexual promiscuity of others.

I am absolutly sicked and discusted when I have to see popular music on my front page. I'm paying for this, I should get to choose what I see

How do I disable these lists of artists being pushed for me to listen to?

I have zero interest in pop, drake, taylor swift, or ed sheeran - I keep right clicking and selecting "exclude" but the same stuff keeps coming back under headings I never asked for (Pop and Popular Radio).

I'm paying for a service which is trying to push content I don't want.

Here's a relevant feature that's directly related to this one: blocking entire genres. I am constantly getting religious music shoved in my face and since it's an algorithm-generated playlist, apparently I'm not allowed to shoo it away? I PAY for this service and DO NOT appreciate having 20 suggested playlists of christian **bleep** rammed down my throat just because one of their holidays just came up on the calendar. *********IF I WANT RELIGIOUS CONTENT, I WILL PERSONALLY SEEK IT OUT. ******** Imagine the outcry from these same people if they got hit upside the head every day with anti-religious content that makes them angry, LOL. They would boycott you so fast it would make your heads spin. So why is okay the other way around? Instead of making me go into a playlist I DON'T WANT and WON'T GO AWAY and individually block EVERY single artists on it, just make it GO AWAY completely.
