Users receiving login emails they didn't request

We've received multiple reports from users that they're receiving multiple emails for login without password that they didn't request. This could be somewhat related but ultimately separate from the recently resolved password reset issue

We're currently looking into this. We'll keep you posted with updates when we have them!

Hey folks,

We're happy to announce that this should now be fixed for everyone.

We believe there is no risk for your accounts and you're welcome to disregard the emails, but if you want you can secure your accounts using these steps.

Take care.

I'm one of the persons that received emails like this. The weird thing is that when I checked my account settings, I had a Facebook account connected to my Spotify account, even though I permanently deleted my Facebook account 10 or so years ago. I followed these steps:

  • Disconnect Facebook
  • Reset password
  • Sign out everywhere
  • Change email address

A few hours later I got another login email on my new email address.

What worries me, is the Facebook account. Where did it come from? Did somebody else manage to link theirs? If so, how is that possible? I haven't clicked on any of the URLs in the login emails and I never log in on any devices but my own. My password was unique and complex, even before I changed it. For now I'm assuming that it was somehow my long deleted account and that I just never noticed it before.

Hi I also have this issue. It seems like the recaptcha on the password reset page is too easy or avoided by the bots that request the password resets. Is it possible to make this a bit more difficult so I don't get 25 of these password reset mails I did not request each day? It is getting very annoying.

Hi, I also have the same issue for the last 4 days.

Happened to me. When I check my recent activity it reflects songs and artists I’ve never listened to in the past 24 hrs. I’ve already reset the password, removed Facebook login, and singed out of all devices but this is the second time this has happened. I’ve experienced this once before with a device or person somehow logging in or using my id in the Philippines. I took the same actions then as I have now. Really need an answer as to why this is happening or I will be switching subscription music platforms.

It seems like a concerning issue. While you investigate, ensure that your email systems are secure to prevent unauthorized access. For users, enabling two-factor authentication is a good step. I need help with my Spotify account, I can't log in and I never receive the email to change my login without a password.
