Hello,
for quite a long time I'm experiencing an issue in my car. I own the Android head unit similar to https://www.hifi-auto.sk/ANDROID-10-VW-GOLF-7-autoradio-d3742.htm (8 cores, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage version).
When I'm listening to music and the songs are switching without me pressing next, everything works. But when I press next button, the sound randomly (quite often) stops (although the playtime of the next song is rising). I have to pause the song and press play again to make it work again. When I pause the song before pressing next, the sound works.
Hey there @42catherine!
Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.
Could you let us know if the issue persists using a different internet connection?
On another note, we'd like to know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update.
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
Thanks for reply Eni.
I'm experiencing this issue since I bought the head unit, what is almost a year now, so not after a specific event.
Trying different connections was one of the first things I've tried. Since the unit has only wifi connection, I've managed to use reverse tethering via USB cable and phone, but it didn't help. Nor trying different wifi networks. I've also tried some "recommendations" from the community, like changing various settings (crossfade, etc.), but nothing worked. I've also been waiting for the updates to see, if the bug wasn't resolved in some kind of a regular update, but after almost a year I guess nobody did report the issue (maybe there are not so many android head units as devices).
One more thing. I'm willing to help you in any way solving this issue. Maybe I could provide you some kind of a dump file / stacktrace if you can provide me a debug version of the app creating such file (for example some text file stored in memory). Maybe we can even manage to connect my device to a remote debugger (I mean connecting your debugger to my device), providing you for example a VPN access to my network, so you'll be able to connect to a debug port.
Hi @42catherine,
Thank you for keeping us in the loop.
After investigating more about the head unit you're using, there's a chance there's some incompatibility between that device and Spotify.
Do you have Android Auto available as a connection method between your phone and the car?, this might be an alternative.
We'll be on the lookout.
Hello MafeG,
no android auto possibility.
May I ask you, what exactly is incompatible? I'm a software engineer quite familiar with Android platform and hardware development as well, so I'd like to know what exactly is wrong, so we can fix it. If not, I'll have to move to a different music service.
Hi there @42catherine,
Thank you for your reply.
We as moderators unfortunately don't have this type of software development knowledge, but can only say which platforms our service is designed for and officially supports. So we're afraid we can't give you that info as it would be very specific and would require a Spotify developer to investigate this behavior on that very same device.
Let us know if we can help you with anything else.
Take care!
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
