My Question or Issue
Everytime I open the app it switches playback to repeat/loop. It's not much of an issue if I hit play on a playlist. But I generally don't use playlists except at work. When I search a song and click it to play, its automatically on repeat. Since the "playlist" for one song is well... One song. That means it defaults to repeating the same song. I know the "solution" is to just uncheck the loop. But it's a hassle to open the player and change it every single time I start the app with a new session. And I'm usually not thinking about that. I'm thinking "I wanna listen to Torna a Casa and the rest of the songs the algorithm suggests like it." And it makes it essentially impossible to start listening hands free.

Hey there @Apollo2231,
Thanks for posting on the Community!
Could you check if clearing stored cache from the app makes any difference? Just make sure to switch off the Repeat function first. Once it's done, try logging out and then back in again. As odd as this may sound, this should resync your account info.
Should the Repeat function still show as switched on, could you send us a video showing how things look from your end? If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.
Let us know how it goes!
Can you guys please get rid of the automatic replay? Like when you select a song and the replay button is just on by default. Why? If I want the same song to keep looping, I'll tap it myself. Get rid of it or give me and option to turn auto-replay off
Hi @Raptors18!
If you've already toggled off the Repeat feature, it should remain deactivated even if you play something else. Perhaps you had it toggled on from a previous listening session, so try disabling it again. Still, it's worth logging out and signing back in to your account - this will trigger an internal refresh of the app that may help here.
In case Repeat turns itself on every time you play something new on Spotify, please share a short screen recording which captures the behavior in action, along with the following:
Cheers!
Repeat button turns itself on. Then I want to throw my phone into the river. Who in the heck wants to hear the same thing over and over? Are y'all trying to make us hate the music that Iwe loved? Previous posts on the topic say ongoing issue since February? Have mercy!
This is so infuriating that I will check the repeat button when starting an album to confirm that it's off and yet the album will still repeat and then the button will have miraculously, like little baby jesus, appeared.
I think i have the same problem because ill listen music on shuffle on my playlist and it will just keep playing the sames songs Pleural that i've been listing that same day it just gets annoying hear the same songs i want to hear other songs in my playlist too like.
It is a known bug. You can either downgrade your version of Spotify and deal with older bugs or update to the latest version and wait on a code fix.

Hello everyone,
I hope you're doing well. I've recently encountered an issue when connecting my phone to my car via Bluetooth, and I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience or if you have any advice on how to resolve this issue.
The Problem:
Every time I connect my phone to my car using Bluetooth, the repeat mode on Spotify automatically activates. The problem is that even if I try to disable it by pressing the repeat icon, it immediately reactivates.
Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing this or a suggestion to fix it?
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!
Hey there folks,
Thanks for raising this on the Community!
As we've been seeing a few reports about this and we'd like to investigate further, would you mind providing us the following details:
If possible, feel free to include videos showing how things look from your end. Should the files be too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us as unlisted YouTube videos or via Google Drive.
We'll keep an eye out for your replies so we can report this to our teams.
Many thanks!
For the past four years this bug has been plagueing me. It has persisted across new phones, many iOS updates, clean spotify app installs, devices restarts, and worst of all... 4 years of spotify updates.
whenever i connect to my car via bluetooth OR apple carplay, repeat turns itself on. If i turn it off after it turned itself on, it will stay off for as long as the car is running. If i turn the car off to fill up gas, and then back on, (without touching the phone at all), repeat re-enables itself.
the car is a ford. recently got a new car, a subaru, and guess what it still happens. new iOS, new phone, new app update, new **bleep**ing car. the only thing that stayed the same is the Spotify app. this does not happen in other music/audio apps.
Again this has been happening for four **bleep**ing years, the following details does not matter but here you go:
Apple iPhone SE 3rd gen (also 2nd gen), iOS 17.3.1
Spotify version 8.9.12.541
i am a software developer, and i gotta tell ya, this doesnt seem like a bug, it seems like there is a line of code, that, when connected to a car via carplay OR bluetooth, it intentionally enables repeat. It happens without fail and ive tried so many different ways to isolate variables and figure this out.i could see how someone might want a playlist to never end on a road trip. I listen to whole albums, when its over i want it to be done and to listen to a new one, not the same god damn album-- or even single song sometimes!! Its insane you guys. Leave the settings alone unless the user changes them.
please for the love of all that is holy fix this behavior.
4 years!!!!
Mine is still having this issue . I just recently logged back in and albums are still auto replaying
Spotify version 8.9.14.543
Pixel 4a Android 13
It always does it
I am also seeing this behavior. I only recently started using Spotify in my car via bluetooth and ever since, EVERY time I use Spotify in my car it will automatically switch on the repeat button. It's sad to see this seems like it will never be fixed, although not surprising given Spotify's poor track record.
I hate the repeat button, I never want to repeat music - fix this Spotify, or hire some developers that can.
Hey folks,
Thanks for your replies and for sharing the requested info.
For anyone that still hasn't, please do so as this will speed up our investigation.
Cheers,
Hi Spotify
This has been happening to me too since switching to new phone
Apple iPhone 12
iOS 17.1
Spotify version 8.9.14.526
Repeat album/playlist is always toggled to on.
i’ve tried clearing cache, logging off/on and reinstalling.
I've been experiencing this for months and a Google search led me here.
Device: Google pixel 7, Android 14
Spotify version: 8.9.16.593
Any troubleshooting: Haven't tried anything yet.
Specifics: Happens always, but then again I always listen to music connected to Bluetooth (or casting to Google home speakers). When I turn repeat off, it doesn't turn back on during that session.
Btw, is your team aware how insanely difficult it is to reply in the community forum on mobile? You can't scroll and the window is tiny. If you type something out, and tab over to another app for a second and come back, whatever you wrote disappears. How is this so broken?
Hi there and thanks for reopening this thread. This chronic issue has lasted several years and it's something Spotify needs to fix or they will lose customers.
I'm also experiencing this issue:
iPhone 12, iOS 16.7.2
Spotify version 8.9.16.556
I have tried turning off autoplay, rebooting my iPhone and connecting to other devices.
It seems to only happen when my iPhone connects via bluetooth to the (stock) head unit in my Toyota. As soon as it connects, "autoplay all" turns on automatically and when I turn it off, it stays off for about 2 seconds before turning on again.
Hi there,
same is happening to my and it’s driving me insane.
Every time it repeats the same song, I toggle repeat off. Song starts playing and repeat has come back on again with out me even touching my phone.
iPhone 12 Pro iOS 17.3.1
Spotify version 8.9.16.556
can you fix this quickly
