I think „most monthly listened” is a bad idea. It is very confusing since it counts monthly ListeNERS, not monthly ListENS (streams) which boosts one-hit wonders and leaves behind artists with a constant huge following.

People who stream 100 songs by one artist a day, and people who listened to one song by that artist, once in a given month both count as one listener. This system is confusing and I believe it incorrectly portrays the popularity of an artist since people who listened to one song randomly often don’t even whose this song is.

A one-hit wonder artist with one hit song with 800 million streams and other songs with less than 10 million streams could be higher on that chart than Rihanna or any other permanently popular star with a massive fanbase and over 100 million streams on almost all her songs just because that one artist has one hit with wide playlisting this month.

So I believe this should be changed because a ranking number next to an artist’s name in many people’s minds means popularity, “how many people know this person”, not “how many people listened to one popular song by that person” because the latter one doesn't actually mean that the artist is known, it means the song is known.
