Block spotify clients to connect to my receiver

Solved!

Block spotify clients to connect to my receiver

A friend of mine was connect to my private WiFi a while ago and did show me how Spotify connect plays on my Yamaha Receiver (RX-S600D).

There was no need to enter any authorization to access my reveiver.

Now he can even connect to my receiver and play music on it even when he's not connected to my WiFi network.

I don't see a chance how I can block this without removing my receiver from my home network, which is no option at all.

This is extremely annoying as he (accidentially)  starts to play music rather loud in the middle of the night on my receiver.

My receiver does not show any option to select spotify clients/accounts that may connect.

How can this be stopped??????

not really.
I had to reset my receiver to factory settings.
Since then I *believe* this solved the issue, but I couldn’t proof.

Just login yourself, that will kick anyone else out.

I think we're talking about different things.

At least on my receiver there's no chance to log in.

It only gets the Spotify stream pushed. No way to manage allowed users or devices.

You log in by playing something on it using your Spotify client.

Yep, I love that anyone on my network can access the device, but allowing them to do it after they've left seems bonkers.

Why would you need to control the device from outside the network? Seems like an of feature.

Are there any updates on this issue?

Did anyone find a workaround?
