Hey there,
Thanks for reaching out!
Does the change always select the same playlist or does it open a random one?
We'd like to know what device this is occurring on - if it's an Android or an iOS one and what its make, model and OS version are.
And, to begin with some troubleshooting here - see if following these steps to reset your app's cached data would make a difference. If this doesn't help out - try removing all Spotify-related data from the device and installing the app anew.
In case the issue remains, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running in order for us to continue investigating the case.
Many thanks! We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙂
Hello. My Spotify has the same problem but when I try and open Spotify, it just keeps me on the Home Screen while playing a song. I wanted to try the new feature but it is just annoying and it won’t let me get out of it. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Hey @MitchellLovesKenC,
Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.
Just to be on the same page, have you followed the instructions to perform a clean reinstall and clearing cache as @Vasil previously recommended?
If so and the issue persists, it would be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the issue persists.
Lastly, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.
We'll be on the lookout for your response.
Hey, I have an iPhone 13 and I am running IOS 17.6.1 and Spotify version 8.9.86.419. I have offloaded the app and deleted it. I reinstalled the app and the issue prevailed. I am unsure of what to do now.
Hey there @MitchellLovesKenC,
Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.
It seems there is a more recent version of the app available for your device. Would you mind checking the App Store if you could update the app? After that, check if the behavior you kindly described persists.
On another note, please send us a video recording of what's happening on your side. You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.
Keep us in the loop!
Good afternoon. I updated my Spotify and unable to find a setting to fix my issue. I am unable to attach a video of the issue but I can describe it. When I click on the Spotify widget it plays my last song that I was playing instead of opening the app. It is very frustrating and I am unable to enjoy Spotify. Thank for your ongoing support.
Hey @MitchellLovesKenC,
Thank you for keeping in contact.
To continue investigating this case, would you mind confirming if it also happens if someone else logs their account on your device as previously suggested? If you haven't tried yet, we'd recommend letting someone log in with their account on your device (it could be a friend or a family member) to see if the issue persists.
It's also worth checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it happens as well, or not.
Lastly, since we were unable to replicate the behavior on our end, it would be great if you could try to send the video recording one more time. You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. Keep in mind that you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to watch it).
We'll be waiting for your next response.
Good afternoon. I had my brother long into Spotify on my phone and the issue persisted. I also had my friend add the Spotify widget on his iPhone. When he opened Spotify, it asked him if he wanted to try a new feature. He now has the same issue as me. I am still unable to add a video due to my restrictions on my phone. Thank you for your attention to this issue.
Hey @MitchellLovesKenC,
Appreciate the cooperation and for testing this with your brother and friend.
We checked things out and we're actually testing improvements in this widget at the moment so it can be expected for it to have different functionality on different devices. We've also forwarded your feedback of the behavior to the right team here at Spotify as we always aim to improve.
Thanks once again and let us know if there's anything else you need assistance with.
