Disable video on podcasts to save data on all platforms

Disable video on podcasts to save data on all platforms

The videos feature is nice to have, but the user should have the option to disable it like we used. As of 8/11/2023, I don't see anyway to disable video streaming while playing a podcast.

Hey @climbhigh77,

On mobile, you'll see the option to disable video podcasts while not listening to them on WiFi under Video Podcasts > Stream audio only (from the mobile device settings).

On desktop, you can either click the X in the video itself or the Show/Hide video button in the lower left corner of the app, next to the title of the currently playing episode 🙂

Should these options be missing for you, please send us some screenshots of what you're seeing.
We'll gladly take a further look into things!

There really should be an option to simply stream audio only regardless of whether we are connected to wifi or not. Children use these Apps, listen to podcasts and they regularly stream video game violence. Even if you restrict 'explicit' content, it shows. I've checked.

This is useless to parents who are frustrated their kids have figured out how to watch uploaded YouTube video "podcasts" on Spotify. Just give us a password protected switch to turn off video ALL THE TIME. Literally that's all we want. So insanely frustrating to think your kid is listening to music only to discover they've spent HOURS AND HOURS watching YouTube videos on Spotify. And don't pawn that garbage SporifyKids on us. By the time she was 7, my kid was rightly frustrated she couldn't listen to any popular or decent music from that incredibly limited selection. Just give us the option to shut off the dang videos!

Yeah... I use Spotify to listen to things, not to watch them. I don't want the video, just the audio. Even on my PC, I should be able to disable it. Right now the video is still playing on a very small thumbnail, which is distracting and a waste of everything involved in playing said video.
