My Question or Issue

Since last month the echo dot would not appear available to play on Spotify.

If I go to the Alexa app or ask it to play Spotify it works and the Spotify app will let me control the songs, but if I'm playing on my device and want to switch to the echo dot it will only show these messages. Sometimes, after a long time it became available.

I already cleared and reinstalled both apps, removed and reregistered the skill... I don't know what to do anymore

Hi there @ReaperX,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!

I use an Echo dot myself and haven't had any issues with Spotify Connect, so let's check what's happening. Thanks for letting us know about the troubleshooting steps you've tried, it's very helpful.

To begin with, go to your Account Overview page > Apps and click on Remove Access on the option that says 'Alexa'. You'll need to go to your Alexa app and re-add the Spotify skill. Once done, check if that makes a difference.

You can also do a soft reset to your Echo Dot by unplugging it for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, plug your Echo speaker back in and check if that helps.

Lastly, have you tried rebooting your router to see if that does the trick? If not, you could also check if the same thing happens while using a different network. You can create a mobile hotspot from your phone and connect your devices to it.

Let us know how that goes.

Hi, Susan! Thanks for taking some time to answer and for all the tips.

I tried your suggestions and the same messages still show up, although it seems that the echo dot became available a little quicker while connected to my mobile hotspot, still it takes its sweet time haha

Hey @ReaperX,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

If using your mobile data seems to be reducing the waiting time a little, it's possible that the issue could be network related. So in this case, since some routers may have 2 different signals (2.4 and 5.0 GHz) and the speed of them is usually faster than the mobile data, would you mind trying with both to see if it makes any difference?

Also, if you’ve already made sure that the Echo's firmware is up to date, could you check with a different Spotify account, using the same Wi-Fi network to see if the Echo appears listed as an available device there? If you don't have another account available, you can ask a friend or family member to use their account on your network to check it out.

Lastly, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

We'll be on the lookout.
