[Fire TV] Can you skip songs on Fire TV through an Echo speaker?

When you're playing music on Fire TV's Spotify app, will it respond to a command - like skip song - you give to an Echo speaker in the same network?

Hi there!

I've just had a quick look and it looks like if you ask Alexa to play music on the Fire TV e.g "Alexa play Hello by Adele on Fire TV' and then ask Alexa to skip songs it should work.

I'm not 100% if this works though as I can't give it a go my end (as I don't have a Fire TV), but give me a shout if it does or doesn't!

I'm replying to my own question for posterity's sake.

It turns out that you have to go to the settings to link your Fire TV and Echo speaker.

It took me a while to discover this.

Both products being manufactured by the same company, I'd have assumed that the two would be able to communicate with each other immediately without any configuration, but I guess not.
