Google home not recognising premium account

Solved!

Google home not recognising premium account

I have Spotify premium.  Google home has that as default link in the music tab. I can cast from within Spotify to the mini speaker fine. But when I use voice and ask for a song it just tells me choosing songs only available to premium subscribers. I have unlinked and relinked.  As well as turning power off.  Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks for these pointers. I tried various things and finally figured out it was not a problem with Spotify but instead with my Google Home app that was not connecting to the Google mini speaker.  The problem is now fixed. For the benefit of anyone else who has this problem I was able to fix this by doing a hard start on the Google mini  (press and hold the tiny round spot underneath just near the power lead) which restarts the Google home system. It wasn’t sufficient just to turn the speaker off and on.

Hey @MargieA,

Thanks for posting this thread!

Just to be on the safe side, could you go to the Account Page in order to see which account you're logged into and if it's on Premium? We also recommend making sure you're logged into the correct Premium account within the app and you can check this via the Settings in Spotify.

After that, please unlink Spotify with Google and then follow the steps in this article in order to link them again.

Let us know if that does the trick 🙂
