How do I know what images I am allowed to use for my playlist cover?

I want to create playlists for Moriarty the Patriot characters. I have been able to find a couple of images that DuckDuckGo says I am free to use and share commercially, but I wanted to know if I am limited to just those? What are the copyright rules for this?
