How do I stop the screensaver from covering the song and artist on my LG TV

How do I stop the screensaver from covering the song and artist on my LG TV

Spotify app came on the LG TV. When I play music, the screensaver covers the name of the song and artist. How do I stop the screensaver from coming up?

Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

We'd love to help and would you mind sending some more details on what's happening from your end? Is it within the Spotify app that this appears, or does the screensaver come from your TV?

If possible, feel free to include a video or photo showing how things look from your end, so that we can have a look as well. You can attach these to your next response by using the Insert image/Insert video option in the post editor (just make sure not to send any private info).

Also, does this only happen when listening to music or does it happen with podcasts too?

Let us know how you get on.

Hi there,

This happens for me too when listening to Spotify. The artist and sound details are on screen for about two minutes then the clock screensaver appears automatically, followed by a prompt to turn the screen back on by pressing any button on the remote control. I’d really like the screen just to stay on the Spotify screen details. I’ve tried many attempts to stop this happening but without success. I suspect this emanates from the LG OLED tv but not sure. Anyone any ideas how to keep my Spotify screen open?

Hi there @DonTolson,

Thanks for your reply in this thread.

Maybe you could change the Screen timeout from the device's settings. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key > Settings > Display > Screen timeout. However, this option might not show up in some models. If you can't find it, we'd recommend reaching out to your TV's manufacturer support, to check if there's a settings on the TV that will allow Spotify to stay on the screen.

We'll be here in case you have any questions.

Hi Ivelina,

I have this issue too and it’s driving me up a wall!

problem description: when music is played through  the webOS Spotify app, the LG screensaver turns on after about two minutes. This isn’t desirable because I’d like to see the album art of the music playing, especially when I’m discovering new music.

Additional details: this is generally done on OLED TVs to avoid burn-in where individual pixels will have a lighter color “burnt in” on it from a static image being left on for too long. This could happen if you were to have a white image of an “X” on an OLED TV left on for a week and it may end up permanently burned into those pixels and visible even when the screen is dark.

Possible solution: I imagine there is some sort of timer function or activity signal that’s required to be sent to LG to let it know that there’s activity happening so that the screensaver is not triggered. You can use such a signal (e.g. signal = active) to let LG OLED TVs know that music is being played and then since images will constantly be refreshing, there’s no risk of burn-in and no need for a screensaver. If music is paused, or if user is browsing music and becomes inactive after 2 minutes, signal = inactive and then LG can use screensaver to protect TVs from burn-in.

please help! My one year old girls really like dancing to music but they lose attention and get distracted if there’s no image on the screen.

link to what screensaver I’m talking about.
