ID in embed code suddenly changed > embed stopped working

ID in embed code suddenly changed > embed stopped working

For one of our commercial clients we made a podcast. We embedded an episode on their website with the iframe code provided at the time (early December 2020). The embed worked fine and we got proper analytics of people listening to the podcast.

Today I checked the analytics again but there were none. After some more investigation I discovered the episode ID in the embed code had changed. This caused the embedded webplayer to stop working and not show anything except an error message "Can't be found", see attachment (translated from Dutch)

We didn't change anything to the episodes, the podcast settings, we never added a new episode. Nothing changed on our side, but for some reason, the Spotify ID of the episode changed. How can this happen? But even better, how can this be prevented in the future?

Old ID:

https://open.spotify.com/embed-podcast/episode/2FgSydoHnTDgxMJSsTjuDa

New ID:

https://open.spotify.com/embed-podcast/episode/7dU3dBpUWcFv9fjr6hrjWa

Hey there @frank_meeuwsen,

Thank you for reaching out to us here in the Community. We're happy to help.

This can happen is if the episode gets reuploded to our service either by the distributor or aggregator in charge of this. For more details we suggest to reach out to our dedicated Podcast team on Spotify for Podcasters.

We hope this information was helpful.

Cheers!
