Hello everyone -
I recently purchased a 2015 Samsung TV running Tizen OS; unfortunately there is no Spotify app in the SmartHub... I had a similar issue for Plex but I found an app that I was able to load directly onto the TV. Does anyone know if there is something like this for Spotify I can try?
Even better, does anyone know when Spotify plans on releasing an app for the 2015 models?
Thanks,
B
Solved! Go to Solution.
So I found a workaround for now using Plex:
1. You must Install/Run Plex on your home network
2. Download the recently add Plex app on your SmartTV
3. Back Install the Unsupported Appstore Channel in Plex:
3a) See this link for more details => https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/151068/unsupported-app-store-as-in-totally-unsupported-is-currentl...
3b) Search on "Download: Plugin.bundle.zip" on the first page and go from there
4. Install the Spotify2 channel
I have tested this out and it does work for me, it just way more involved especially for anyone not already running Plex...
Hi,
I have exactly the same Issue on my new serie 7 UHD Samsung TV (JU7580). I live in Switzerland.
Any update or idea concerning the issue ?
thank you.
Xavier
Even if there's not stable release of Spotify for Samsung TV running Tizen OS, a beta version would be nice. We could help developing it providing feedback. Plex solved this by releasing the beta to the public and I'm using it.
Hi,
Same for me ! I'm Sotfware Engineer and i'm very interesting to test a beta version of Spotify on Tizen OS TV.

I see my previous reply was misunderstood. I ment it's a shame that we have to use unofficial methods to get Spotify on our devices. I expect more from a company this size. If Plex could deliver their app, Spotify should be able as well.

As a desperation move I tried out this method. When asked for my username and password, I tried to login with my Facebook account. I found out that it doesn't work, so I went to my profile page where I found out my Spotify username and a green button to request a device password.
The email for the device password didn't arrive so I contacted Spotify Support. This is a part of their reply:
For your Facebook created account, we're afraid we won't be able to provide you with the device password. At the moment, the device password option only works on Spotify.com created accounts.
This is getting ridiculous. Seriously Spotify, why do you offer the possibility to register with Facebook account if you don't support it? Or why don't you just release an app that supports Tizen OS so we don't have to try out unofficial methods?!
I had enough. Cancelling my premium subscription.
