Lyrics not showing anymore on my Smart TV after latest Spotify update

Lyrics not showing anymore on my Smart TV after latest Spotify update

I have a TCL Smart TV (Android) which has the latest updates. When I updated Spotify last week on the TV, it took away the lyrics option so they no longer appear on my TV, even though the lyrics show up on the Spotify app on my phone.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Is this only on the Android TV app or on other devices too? Test that out if you haven't already. Also consider reinstalling the app on TV as that can help resolve any desync issues that may be causing this.

Hope this helps.

Same thing happened to my Roku tv. Had lyrics and then now No option to select lyrics within the Spotify app.

Thank you for your reply!

Spotify lyrics work fine on my phone app and I've uninstalled and reinstalled the TV app and restarted the TV, and it still doesn't work...

That’s all I can say

Hey there folks,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

As we've been getting a few reports about missing lyrics in this thread, we would like to investigate this further. To start, just to make sure we cover all bases, could you try the following, if you haven't already:

  • Log out and log back in.
  • Check TV for updates.
  • Reset/reboot TV.
  • Reinstall Spotify.

Shouldn't that do the trick, would you mind letting us know the following details:

  • Make and model of your TV.
  • Exact OS version.
  • Spotify app version (include the version number): e.g. 2.1.49

This info will help us and our teams dig deeper into this.

Keep us posted!

Hisense TV Spotify App stopped playing lyrics a month or so ago. We tried all the troubleshooting mentioned above. Under my user name on the tv app in settings it says version 2024 02.12_1-645bc1fE release-v2.277-2-gf7698c4-mlpfvhz head-v3.203.239-g1d6bd5651.81.55

Spotify Customer Service, will you review or update on the above issue. Thank you

Mine just started doing it this morning. Worked great yesterday.

Hi Maria,

We've got the same issue here and tried all the steps above. We have an LG TV 55UH661V, OS no. 05.70.30 and Spotify app version: 2.0.34

Please could you advise as to what to try next?

Hi Maria,

Is there a further update available on this topic?

Thanks

I'm having the same problem and have tried all your suggestions.

I have a Hisense Roku TV model #55R6+. App and TV are up to date. Lyrics work fine on my phone.

Adding, at the same time the lyrics disappeared songs started randomly being added to my personal playlist. Sometimes they're similar songs or artists, sometimes not. I pay for premium, but will be looking at other options if this isn't resolved very soon.

Is anything being done about this? It's becoming quite frustrating as new music is released. A response would be appreciated.

Hey Maria,

Mine is doing this as well after the update and all the suggestions.

Below are the details of my items. I hope this is helpful! Thank you so much!

Make and model of my TV |

  • TCL 32S301
  • Hardware ID: 8102X
  • Serial Number YK0002268515
  • Device ID AT47D0268515

Exact OS version |

  • Software Version: 12.55.0 - build 4176-48

Spotify app version (include the version number): e.g. 2.1.49 |

  • Version 2.11 - build 66

I didn't mean to post that twice... my bad! 😬😬😬

Hello everyone,

Thanks for the cooperation! It really helps the team investigate the issue further so if you haven't already provided the details @Maria asked for in this post, it would be great if you could send them over.

No worries @EthanMcGowan, we've removed the double post 🙂

Additionally, to test if it would make any difference make sure that Explicit Content is turned on (turning it off can disable lyrics). You can do that in the Spotify mobile app under Profile > Settings and Privacy > Content Preferences.

We'll be on the lookout!

That seems to have fixed it for me. Thank you so much!

Do you know if anything is coming down the line that might fix the communication between the system and the explicit/nonexplicit songs and their lyrics when using the lyrics on the screen? I would love to be able to use Spotify with my students when we do Karaoke. We also have to filter the songs they want to sing. The explicit block was helping us do that. Just a question for stuff for us to be looking for. Thank you so much for all of your help!

Allowing explicit content did indeed fix the lyrics issue on my TV. However, I have young children in my household that have access to Spotify, so it isn't an acceptable fix for us. I don't understand what caused this with the recent update. Hopefully, your team will get it worked out in the near future. It would be less of a concern if we didn't get random songs while listening to our created playlists, which also started with the most recent update.

Thank you for your assistance.
