Make Android TV's Spotify current "Now Playing" song sync with Spotify on other devices.

Make Android TV's Spotify current "Now Playing" song sync with Spotify on other devices.

Spotify syncs "Now Playing" songs across different type of devices and platforms but it isn't the case for Android TVs. If i play a song on my PC or smartphone, the current "Now Playing" track will be on displayed at the top right of the Android TV's Spotify app when I open it but not vice versa.

 

I would have to open the album or playlist and select the specific song, I was playing on Android TV. It also doesnt sync the "timestamp" to my other devies whenever I pause the song on it.

 

It's really inconvenient and mess up Spotify's seamless playback fuction. Please fix it.

Thanks for posting this thread in the Community!

 

As far as I understand, the issue is when you're trying to sync the playback starting from your TV on to your other devices, but it's not displaying correctly (on the phone and PC).

 

In this case, it'd be great if you could let us know if you've performed any troubleshooting steps so far. For example, make sure that there aren't any pending firmware updates on the TV and also give Spotify a clean reinstall to get rid of any corrupted cache.

 

I also recommend that you restart your router if you haven't already done this and if it's possible you could test with a different internet connection (mobile data shared via hotspot for example).

I've already performed all the troubleshooting suggestions you gave me, none worked. It only sync the playback if I pause the playback on TV but not when I closed the app or turn off the TV (standby mode).

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the shared info. 

 

Just to make sure we've covered all the basics, have you tried with a different Wi-Fi connection just to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test it.

 

Also, it would be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your Android TV - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the content syncs with their phone or not. 


Lastly, include in your next response the Spotify version of your TV by following the steps mentioned here under the Android section.
