[Mobile][Podcasts] Keep track of podcast progress when you listen together in real life

[Mobile][Podcasts] Keep track of podcast progress when you listen together in real life

My partner and I both have Spotify accounts, and we like to listen to podcasts together. Sometimes, we'll physically be in the same place, and listen to the podcast out loud.

It would be great if there was an easy way to indicate in spotify that you are listening out loud with another spotify user in real life. In this situation, that would let either partner use their account to queue up the next episode of the podcast, without having to always manually mark podcasts as played (which is especially annoying, for instance, on a road trip where we might listen to quite a lot of content).

Please consider implementing a feature that allows a users progress in a podcast to be tracked, if a user with a different account is playing the podcast out loud and both people are listening. Automatically having both accounts sycned in podcast progress would be so convenient!

Hey @t-f,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome 🙂

We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the ideas section to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.

That being said, we'd like you to know this is already possible on the app by creating a group session. So, if you're listening to a podcast episode, you can invite someone to join you, so you both listen to the episode together. The progress bar will be kept in both accounts.

You can create a remote group session or join a group session on speaker. You can read all about it in the hyperlinks. Keep in mind this feature is available for Premium accounts on mobile and tablet. This feature works with smart speakers and most Bluetooth speakers.

If you think your original idea should be considered as separate, feel free to submit it again, highlighting how your idea is distinct from this feature. Just keep in mind our Idea Exchange Guidelines.

Small disclaimer: due to a high amount of new Idea Submissions to review, we are temporarily pausing new submissions. But no worries, we're working on it, so we can reopen it again.

We hope you found this helpful. Let us know if you need anything else.

Cheers!
