Multiple Echo Dot - individual Spotify accounts

Multiple Echo Dot - individual Spotify accounts

Hi - I have a Spotify Premium / family account. I have just bought three Amazon echo dots. I have set up one of them and linked it to MY Spotify profile. This seems to have linked all three dots to MY Spotify profile. My son would like his own Spotify profile to play through the Dot in his room. Is there a way of linking each Dot to each Spotify Profile (if i am the bill payer and main account holder on a family account.)

I’m sorry, I don’t have the answer however I am in the same position. Bought 3, connected one child’s first and so there is is current Spotify war between rooms....I hope you don’t mind me saving this in the hope you get an answer rather than starting a brand new thread. Xx

Hi. I got around it but I’m not sure it was the easiest or right solution.

1. Deregister the devices in your kids room from your app
2. Create an amazon account for each of them
3. Download the Alexa app onto their phones.
4. Register the device in their room on their app on their phone
5. Register their individual Spotify accounts to the device in their room on their respective app.
6. Complete the communications steps in set up and input their phone numbers.
7. Enable “drop in” on each device during the same process
8. Enable drop in on your Alexa to allow them to contact your device.
9. You can then drop in by using the full name you have for them on your phone - and vice versa. So they drop in on mine by saying “drop in on Dad”

This solves the Spotify cross over problems but means that the devices aren’t linked as they were when you set them all up originally. It’s a messy work around but it does work.

Each device is now completely independent.

Hope this helps - and if you find an easier way of doing it - let me know

We also have Spotify family and 3 third gen Dots, but we can't seem to find a way to put seperate Spotify accounts on different Dots that are all connected to the same Amazon account. Hopefully this is something that can be done and I just can't figure it out, or will be possible in the future since it's the main reason we got Dots for our kids.
