My Spotify won't play on my Chromebook

My Spotify won't play on my Chromebook

The web browser allows me to access everything, but the "play" area at the bottom with the time bar and the queue is grayed out, and when I hover my mouse over, a little red circle with a line through it appears. There are no apparent errors, and I made no updates to my Chromebook or the Spotify app.

Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out!

Could you let us know if you're using the Web Player via your Chrome browser or the Spotify app downloaded from the Google Play store?

We'd also like to see how the described error looks like, so we'd appreciate it if you could attach a screenshot of it in your next reply 🙂

Much appreciated! We'll be on the lookout.

I have been having the same problem, on both Web Player and the Spotify app. It does not happen on any devices other than my Chromebook. I'd love to know how to fix this. Thanks! This is what the bottom of my screen looks like, everything else looks normal.

Hi folks,

Could you give the steps in this article a try to see if that resolves the issue? If possible, try using another Wi-Fi network: you can create a mobile hotspot from your phone and connect your Chromebook to it.

Also, make sure Spotify is allowed through the firewall: you can disable it temporarily to see if you'd be able to play content then. If you're using a VPN, try disabling it as well.

Let us know how it goes 👍

I am using the web player via my Chrome Browser! Here is a a screenshot.

Thanks for the response @mfierros_164.

Could you try sending the screenshot once again? You should be able to attach it to your next comment via the Insert Image option in the post editor.

Also, it'd be great if you could test what @Yordan suggested in this post and let us know if any of the steps made any difference for you.

Hope to hear from you soon 🙂
