Playback pauses if Bluetooth headset is connected to multiple devices at the same time

Playback pauses if Bluetooth headset is connected to multiple devices at the same time

Feb 2025 - Issue occurring on Logitech Vibe 100 headphones new and fully updated when multipoint with a phone and laptop. At first I thought it was a defect in the headphones... turns out closing the Spotify app on my phone resolves, so this is a Spotify issue.

Also having the issue with the Zone Vibe 100. Turning off the headphones, pressing play in Spotify, and then turning the headphones back on worked.

I was listening on another app for hours with the same headphones just before, so it seems like a Spotify issue. However I have other Bluetooth headphones, and have only had the issue with this pair.

I'm on the Android app version 9.0.26.632

Hey folks,

Thanks for the reports!

Just to confirm, when the playback pauses, were you listening to Spotify beforehand or another app? Multipoint Bluetooth headphones prioritize audio from whichever connected device was most recently active. Even if you're only using Spotify on one device, random background sounds, notifications, or alerts from your other connected device could still be causing the headphones to temporarily switch over, interrupting your playback.

When two devices are paired, the headphones will always give priority to the one that sent audio most recently. If it was Spotify that you were primarily listening to, then this might explain why the playback occasionally pauses. To test this, try these steps:

  1. Temporarily turn off Bluetooth on your secondary device, and see if Spotify behaves better.
  2. Double-check and mute any notifications or background apps on your other device that might send audio signals.
  3. Test it out with just one connected device at a time to confirm the issue disappears.

I have the same issue and the solution to only have it connected to one device at a time seems to work!

I have a new pair of Zone Vibe 100 headphones and was experiencing the same issue - spotify pausing within seconds of starting a song when the headphones were connected, or randomly after a little while and repeatedly pausing every few seconds, whether it was the app on my iphone 11 or the app on my desktop computer. I was on the verge of returning these headphones, but coincidentally my JBL speaker I always use with my phone app started pausing spotify randomly last night after being fine for over a year, so I did  a little digging this afternoon and came across this thread.

I tried many combinations to troubleshoot and confirm it is actually these headphones. I tried different devices (other bluetooth headphones, JBL speaker, desktop with no bluetooth, phone with no bluetooth), playing sound on apps such as youtube, social media and spotify with the headphones from iphone and desktop versions, and confirmed it was ONLY the Zone Vibe 100 headphones with the spotify app, whether on my phone or a computer that was pausing.

The #3 solution, as noted above by Yordan, was to ensure that the headphones are only connected to one device at a time. Inconvenient, but I do really like these headphones and usually only use one device so it's fine for me. Thanks for the suggestion Yordan!
