Ability to search for songs within playlists so that you can see what songs you have already added to your own playlist or search for specific songs in other people's playlist. Alternatively, the ability to detect if a song has already been added to your playlist.
Hey @notoriousLGB,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the ideas section to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.
That being said, we'd like you to know that it is already possible to search for songs within your playlist in both the mobile version and the desktop app. In the desktop app, it looks like this:
You can find the search button at the top of a playlist, right next to the sorting options drop-down menu. You can search for the name of the song, the artist, or the album.
In the mobile version, it looks like this:
You'll need to select the playlist and scroll down to find it. The search bar in this case is also next to the sorting options. You can also find the search bar within the playlist your friends share with you.
On another note, keep in mind that you also receive a pop-up message when you're trying to add a track to a playlist, but that track is already part of it. That message looks like this:
You can see the same message in both the desktop app and on your mobile device. Sometimes, copyright owners/artists upload more than one version of the same song to their profiles. Since those are different versions of the same track, when adding them to a playlist, it's expected to see this message.
If you're having inconveniences with any of the mentioned features, please let us know so we can assist you.
If the above doesn't meet the details of the suggestions you posted, feel free to post them again, but keep in mind you have to follow our Ideas Exchange Guidelines. That way, your suggestion will be approved more quickly and smoothly. Remember: Always post one change/suggestion request per idea.

Found this thread because I was looking for a solution too.
I used to be able to search within a playlist in the way described here, but since transferring to a new iPhone I can’t do it anymore. Neither pulling down nor the menu give any option to search within a playlist.
Im on a iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 16.5, running Spotify app version 8.8.42.432.
Hey @frietkonijn,
Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.
This type of issue is commonly related to some damaged cache stored on your device that may interfere with the proper behavior of the app. In this case, we'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article.
If the issue persists, could you send some screenshots about it or record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to watch it).
We'll be on the lookout.
On my iPhone and ipad, I can get the search bar by swiping down the screen only for some playlists and not for other ones. It seems nobody has this problem. The playlists I can’t have the search bar for are the same on ipad and iPhone. Can someone help me because it’s very fustrating…
Hi @JovdSR,
Thanks for reaching out. Can you send us some screenshots of where exactly the search does an doesn't appear? That will help us investigate this.
Keep us posted
