Simultaneous account use

Simultaneous account use

My wife and I both use spotify in the car and at work, along with via our alexa speakers at home. We both have separate individual accounts.

The problem is: if my account is on the Alexa and she is using it, I can't use my account in my car. And vice versa.

I was hoping a Duo account would fix this but it seems like the issue would still persist, as a duo is just two seperate accounts billed together. So whichever account is logged into the Alexa and being used, wouldn't allow for it to be used at work/in the car.

Is this correct? Any suggestions?

I basically just need 1 account that can have two simultaneous uses from any device.

Hey there, @templeowls,

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

Yep, you're correct. If she's using the Alexa while the speakers are linked to your account, she would be taking control over your playback. I'd recommend setting up one of the accounts for home use and the other one for work/in the car. That way, they won't interfere with each other.

💡 Tip: it's possible to save multiple logins on the mobile app and quickly switch between accounts. For more info check out this thread.

Another workaround would be subscribing to Premium Family instead and creating a new account specifically to be used with the Alexa, and another one for work/in the car.

Hope this clears things up. Cheers 🤘
