Song wavers in pitch/speed in web and Android app?

Hi all!

Noticed this particular glitch more than once, but I've been unable to notice a pattern for its occurence but I last noticed it while listening to King's X "Flood, pt.1" song.

While I'm listening to a song suddenly the pitch of the whole song drops a bit and feels like the song slowed down a bit... Then after a short while it restores the pitch and speed. Then it drops again, returns to pitch/speed, until the song ends. The songs following did not exhibit this particular issue...

In short, it feels like listening to a walkman with so-so batteries, so the cassette tape slows down a bit (slowing the song tempo and pitch) and then returns to pitch/speed.

If I find a quick and easy way to record the reproduced sound on my laptop or cellphone I'll gladly attach a snippet here.

Why this would happen I have no idea, but I was wondering if someone else noticed the same issue?

To keep investigating your case, we'll need some more info about it. First, would you mind confirming if this issue happens just on that song, or if it happens with any other one?

Also, could you share with us the URI of the affected track to see if it happens on our end as well?

Lastly, it would be great if you could include in your next response the OS version and the Spotify version you're currently running on your device, along with the recording you mentioned previously to have a better look at the issue.

1. the issue occurs here and there and is not limited to this song only
It just happened to be the song I noticed it on when I decided to post this

3. My phone uses Android 9 (EMUI 9.1.0.297) and Spotify version 8.7.68.568.

But, I noticed the same thing happening too a few versions ago and in the web player.

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared 🙂

We tried to replicate this behavior from our side, but we noticed it works as it should. That being said, we'd like to gather as much info as possible. So, did you notice if this is happening on a different account? It'd be awesome if you could check. You can ask a relative or a friend to open their account in the affected device and verify.
 

On another note, did you notice if this is happening if you download the song to listen to it in offline mode? Give it a try and let us know if you could replicate this issue in offline mode as well.
