I don't mind music videos and do watch them on my own time. But after an update, spotify now plays music videos on all tracks. This means A) Spotify is using up 5x the data and 2x the battery loading something i don't want to watch at the moment and B) lot of MVs don't start with the music right away and even have interruptions in the middle.
This is the same problem I have with YT Music which sometimes had MVs as tracks which led to unnecessary distraction. As a user of MVs and a premium subscriber, even i am annoyed by it. I am not sure how others who don't want it at all must be.
Turn it off Spotify! Atleast give us the option to choose
How do I turn off music videos? Why is there no option to stop auto-playing them?
It is very disruptive and makes the audio lag. I don't want to hear random dialogue or have to listen to a long intro to a music video before listening to the song.
Hi Yordan,
This is happening on the Windows desktop version of the app, no matter which PC I'm using. The version is Spotify for Windows (64 bit) 1.2.59.514.g834e17d4. This is happening on every song which has a music video attached to it no matter how it's queued up. To add to what I said in my earlier post, the songs now only start playing when I click on the app; that is, the music video is the default no matter what, but when a song with a music video is reached the music will just stop playing entirely until you click on the app. Please do try and communicate to the powers that be about this - I listen to music all day while working on the desktop app, and this is significantly reducing its functionality to the extent that I'm considering switching to another service.
Hey folks!
Thank you for all the provided feedback so far 🙂
And @Harrylewis2906, try removing your app's cached data to see if that would remove the pausing issue for you.
As mentionen by @Yordan, a step further would be to go for a complete clean reinstall of the app as shown here.
In case the issue persists, see if disabling the Hardware Acceleration would make a difference:
Many thanks & hope this helps! Keep us posted on how things go 🙌🏼

My Question or Issue
Now when i play music on my desktop app, Spotify plays the video by default. If I want to stream audio only I have to manually switch the audio stream for each song. Please, add an option to stream audio only for every content, songs and podcasts, in the settings of all of the devices. It's becoming really really annoying. I bet it's not a huge task for your devs. Thanks.

Minha pergunta ou problema
Todas as músicas estão iniciando com videoclipe, eu gostaria que iniciasse apenas com o áudio ou o canvas
I don't get why we can't choose the default playback option.
I chose to pay for spotify because I want to listen to the highest quality songs, not to the audio mixing of videos

My Question or Issue
When the Google TV app says "Got it, we'll only play audio from now on", I'd like it to actually only play audio from now on instead of switching back to video on its own. I mostly use my TV as a glorified audio streamer for my hifi so the only thing automatic video playback adds is a jarring multi-second pause while it loads the video and I scramble for the remote to cancel it.

My Question or Issue
Hi,
I have the problem on my FireTV sticks that for some time now Spotify has only been playing the videos, but not the "normal" audio version.
Example:
I select one of my playlists and play the first track, then it starts with the video version and offers to switch to the audio version. If I agree to this, it looks as if it wants to play the audio version, but actually only shows each song in the playlist for a second and then jumps to the next song without having played it at all.
Another example:
If I take a playlist and tell it to display the video, it plays the video and then skips all the songs which don't have a video.
Counter-example:
My Sony Bravia TV (Android TV) does not seem to have this problem. If I select the same playlist there, I can switch between the video and audio version without any problems.
Same problem, and the app on the cell phone does not recognize the tv to control de audio. When i chosse to play only audio, it does not play any sound and keep scrolling the music wihtout my command. Then when there is a video, it plays the sound.
Adding my discontent. I use Spotify to listen to audio ONLY and this is driving me away from the platform. Please add a way to switch the music videos off! clicking on spotify every song to turn the video off is NOT a legitimate solution
Thanks for this topic, which made me decide to get another streaming service after more than 14 years. I’ve had the same issues and very discontent with the lack of a global option to choose if I want video or audio. I’ve been with Spotify from 2011 to listen to audio, not having videos forced through without opt-out.
Hey folks,
Just wanted to jump in and let you know that this is currently being investigated. If you haven't shared your device details (model, OS version and Spotify version) yet, please do so as it will help speed up the investigation.
Cheers,
When clicking the Gear Icon in Spotify on Fire TV, there's no settings...?
