Songs unexpectedly pause and restart when streaming and/or downloaded

Songs unexpectedly pause and restart when streaming and/or downloaded

On my laptop or on the downloaded on my phone, during playback songs consistently and unexpectedly pause for a second and then continue playing. Always seems to happen during the best part of the song. SO frustrating.
It's been going on long and often enough that I am thinking of getting rid of Spotify and going elsewhere for music.

Hey there,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, we recommend you to start off with a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your devices. By doing that the app can be up-to-date and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this inconvenience. You can see the steps for a clean reinstall here.

If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to gather some additional info. In this case, would you mind sharing with us the make/model and OS of the affected devices, along with the Spotify version you're running there?

On another note, we'd like to check: is this happening if you change the internet connection you're using? Is this happening over WiFi? Ethernet? Both? If possible, you can create a hotspot from your phone and connect your computer to it, to see if you notice any difference. Give it a try and let us know if changing the connection makes any difference.

Since you mentioned this is happening on your mobile when playing downloaded content, would you mind trying to change the quality of your downloads to see if you notice any changes in this behavior? Give it a try and let us know how it goes. You can check the quality by going to settings> Audio quality> Download.

Lastly, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.

Keep us in the loop!
