Sort songs in playlist

Sort songs in playlist

I think customizing the order to put new songs at the end by default is pretty stupid. If I add a song to my playlist, it means I want to hear it recently. It should be at the front of the list. If I use sort by join time, I can't change the order of the songs. A lot of times I'm not happy with the order of the songs and I wish there were a few songs together.
I think either the custom sorting should be changed to put new songs first by default, or it should allow me to sort the playlist by time and still change the position of the songs.

Hey @Weeeeeeee,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the ideas section to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.

That being said, keep in mind, you can customize the order of your playlist by using the sorting options. By default, the playlists you create are going to be set with Custom order sorting option. Nonetheless, if you choose Date added sorting option, you can set your playlist to the newest added to the oldest or vice versa. See here:

The arrow pointing down will set the playlist to be able to see the newest songs added to the playlist at the very top. The arrow pointing up will set songs from oldest to newest. This works the same on a mobile app, you just need to search for sorting options at the top of the playlist, by scrolling down.

To sort your songs differently, you just need to set the Custom order sorting option on the playlists you've created. You can rearrange the order by dragging and dropping the tracks in whichever order you'd like by using the desktop app. Currently, you can only drag and drop tracks on the desktop app.

The app will remember your sorting selection across all the devices in which your account is open. You can find the sorting options at the top right of the playlists you want to rearrange, next to the searching tool. You can read more about sorting options here.

If perhaps the idea you have in mind is different from this, you can post your own suggestion, but keep in mind you have to follow our Ideas Exchange Guidelines. That way, your suggestion will be approved more quickly and smoothly. You should make sure your idea is clear.

Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.

I want to be able to customize playlists. Like arrange songs in the order I want. Like holding down on the song and dragging it where it should go.
