My Question or Issue

I have a personal playlist called Morning on Spotify that I want to use for routines on a Nest mini and until recently (maybe 3 days ago) it worked perfectly but now it plays another public playlist (thus not the one I want) instead even when I ask it with the OK Google phrase. It seems to be the only playlist doing so because my others playlists are played when I say “OK Google, play my … playlist” or in a routine.

I tried to copy it, not working, unlinking + relinking my account to the Nest did nothing more and I don’t understand why it’s not willing to play this one playlist while the others yes.

Thanks for helping me.

Hey @bluefir,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

We'd recommend changing the playlist name to another less common word, please make sure that no punctuation is included in the playlist name. Note that Google Assistant requests are handled by Google, so there might not be that much we can do from our end.

Let us know how you get on with this.

Hey Alex,

I'm having a similar problem but with all my playlists. I used to be able to tell my nest mini to play all sorts of playlists I created just fine and now none work. If I say "hey Google, play my Abba playlist on Spotify" the reply is now "ok, playing a playlist called "this is Abba" on Spotify. But it's worked 100 times before.

Hey there @cmeehan,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community!

As @Alex mentioned, the support of the voice commands of Google Assistant are handled by the folks at Google, so we might not be able to influence the functionality of those here in the Spotify community. What we can suggest is to see their recommendations for best practice with their voice commands and Spotify here.

It's definitely worthwhile to also note the advise above and take some time and personalize the names of your playlists (not using just the name of artists for example), so the Assistant does not pass a too general request to Spotify and thus to get confused/unwanted results.

If nothing seems to help for you, then you can also send us a short video recording of the situation, so we can advise you better.

Hope you find this useful. Keep us posted if you have any questions.
