Spotify App crashes / won't open on Apple Watch

Spotify App crashes / won't open on Apple Watch

Plan: Premium

Country: US

Device

Apple Watch 3

My Question or Issue

The Spotify app won't open on my Apple Watch. When I tap the app, the Spotify logo shows briefly in the middle of the screen, then disappears and it takes me back to my app screen. Both my watch and the Spotify app have the latest updates. It seems to be the same problem described here, which is marked as fixed, but it's not fixed for me:

Hey @Mel888,

Thanks for reaching out.

We're sorry to hear that the issue hasn't been resolved for you. Can you please let us know your Spotify version and the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far, so we can investigate further?

My Question or Issue

I recently got the Apple Watch SE, and every time i try to click on a playlist it tells me something went wrong, and to check my connection, despite already being connected to Wifi. I also cannot click on the Downloads tab on the watch without the entire app crashing and taking me back to the Home Screen.

Please help!

Hello. I don't know how to figure out what version I have on the Apple watch, but it is the most up to date version. The troubleshooting steps I tried were uninstalling and reinstalling the app on both my watch and phone (so both have the updated version), closing all apps, and restarting the watch. Thanks.

Having the exact same issue. Following for resolution.

Exatly the same for me.

New Apple Watch SE with OS 9.2

Iphone with OS 16.2

I have the Premium Duo plan, does that have something to do with it?

As it seems I can do everything except listening from the Watch which is only for Premium users.

Hey folks,

Thanks for sharing this info.

Is it possible to try resetting the watch to factory settings to see if that resolves the issue? We weren't able to reproduce the issue on our end.

@suddn, are you able to open the Spotify app on your watch?

Keep us posted.

Hi! Somehow it started working as expected since yesterday. Did not do anything special, but offline downloads on the watch and playback is now working.

So no issues for me anymore.

App crashes when I hit downloads. Playlists, albums, artists; etc; nothing will load no matter how long I wait. I’ve uninstalled, re-installed, (phone and watch and apps are all up to date) I have exhausted EVERY possible troubleshooting option. Spotify is not compatible with present versions of anything. Please fix immediately. I’ve been dealing with this since Christmas.
