Spotify Connect - Does not detect Denon Ceol N9

Solved!

Spotify Connect - Does not detect Denon Ceol N9

Hi,

I have installed the spotify app (using premium) on my HTC one m8 (Android 5). While I am able to detect and play music to my wondows 7 laptop, it does not list my Denon Ceol N9 network player, and I am unable to stream music to my stereo using spotify connect.

I have followed the (very short) instructions listed here: http://manuals.denon.com/RCDN9/EU/EN/ZHOBSYxvrwcwjl.php on how to use Spotify Connect on my Denon, but unsuccessfully so far.

The units are all connected to the same wifi, but the Denon Ceol N9 is not lised in the spotify app. Any tips on what I am doing wrong? Some settings I need to enable to make this work? Help would be much appreciated 🙂

Several people have had this problem in the past, and what fixed the problem for them was to unplug their Denon for a few minutes, and then plug it back in to refresh the connection. Also try restarting your WiFi router.

I have now connected my Denon to the router via an ethernet cable instead of wi-fi, and this seems to selve the problem completely. Although I would have been better to avoid yet another cable in my TV/stereo setup.. Oh well 🙂

Thanks for your reply, this worked 🙂

It does however seem like I need to do this procedure everytime I am using Spotify Connect after having turned off my Denon.. Of course this is not ideal, hopefulle some software update for the N9 can fix this!

Glad to hear!

That's weird...

Seems still an issue - never connects from a handset for me - always have to make the first spotify connect from the mac, then it works ok from either android or ipad (all via wifi)

My Spotify connect (new versions) does not detect my Denon Ceol Piccolo, My Coel Piccolo is connected to internet wifi or even ethernet cable but non of them results of my Spotify (in other device as iphone or desktop computer) detects My Denon Ceol Piccolo. I also tested to unplug but nothing changes, understand there is problem with connect?, I remember a couple of months ago I could connect as it was detected by iphone (never by my desktop computer

Same problem here. Spotify Connect is very unstable, if you are planning to buy Denon for this functionality: don't!

Workaround: use Bluetooth connection, this seems reliable so far.

Spotify connect does not work on WiFi. A cold restart (disconnect Denon from main and reconnect) makes it work ones, but that is no solution in practice. The spotify app finds The Denon player reports "connecting" but do not make the connection. My guess is that there is some timeout that is not long enough.

Some more comments. To use a cable connection is no option as I demand a wireless connection. I have tried to use Bluetooth from the smartphone to Denon. It works but it takes a lot of energi and reduces quality. It also plays all sounds from my phone on the speakers!!!. Not acceptable. My solution is to replace Spotify by another supplier until this is solved.
Just to mention that other apps play fine on the Denon, but not Spotify, so it is quite obvious that it is the Spotify app that sucks.

Hi,

I had the same problem for a couple of weeks. I had to systematically re-launch the quick setup sequence to pair the Ceol with my iPad and then most of the time (but not always) the receiver showed on the list of available devices on Spotify.

Pluging in an ethernet cable yesterday seemed to solve it for good. As soon as the Ceol registered on the network the SpotifyConnect feature activated and I could see it on all my devices (iOS and Android). I can now turn it on directly from Spotify.

It is a shame the wifi connection is so unstable, but at least I can now enjoy all the capabilities of my Ceol.

Same problem with Denon Ceol N4.

I have Spotify App on iPhone and I dont see Denon N4 via "Spotify Connect". I have tried wifi and wired connection. Also I tried to reset, reconnect Denon - nothing helped.

AirPlay works, but it drains the battery in iPhone like crazy...

Same here, couple months ago connection from Honor6 to Ceol (with cable) worked, but not now, Spotify doesnt find Ceol, everything what told before i tried, (i dont try wifi because weak range), maybe some update ceol or Spotify makes this problem?

Hi, I have a similar problem but it extends to when using the 'Music' app. So when I'm inn spotify app or Music app, the air play symbol is not visible. Is this what other people are experiencing and does anybody have a fix that works wireless (not plugging in any Ethernet cable)

I gave upp SF on this unit

Both companies obviously have a deal to advertise this option for the consumers to buy their stuff. That's what I did and now I'm horribly disappointed with this issue. Doesn't work and I am on Ethernet from the start.
