My Question or Issue

I recently found out about the Star program and it sounds exciting. To Spotify users (non-staff) who are now Stars, how long did it take you to become a Star? Were you aiming for that goal or just answering questions regardless? One of the rewards that is enticing to me is a free Spotify premium subscription. How much effort/time earns you 50 points? How about 100? Is qualifying as a Star based on the number of posts I make, or how many of those posts are accepted as solutions? Regarding your experience with the Star program, is it worth it? Once you are invited to the program, what kind of actions earn points? Do you just volunteer to answer the community's questions? Do you have any other tips or advice for a newbie like me?

 Thank you!

Hey @silas21, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Just adding to what @Alex has mentioned. I'll be happy to answer most of your questions.

how long did it take you to become a Rock Star?

- I remember that it could be about a few months after I started helping out on the Community to receive an invitation and take a quiz to join the RSP (Rock Star Program), and it was a great experience ever since - and still is.

Were you aiming for that goal or just answering questions regardless?

- I love helping others regardless, and I didn't think I would ever be invited into the RSP until I got an email with information regarding joining the RSP. I think that being a Rock Star gives me more motivation to help others.

How much effort/time earns you 50 points?

- I don't usually keep track of how the point system works, I just know that I get points that I'm able to redeem if I wish to.

Is qualifying as a Rock Star based on the number of posts I make, or how many of those posts are accepted as solutions?

- I always remembered, "Quality over quantity". It's a good idea to make sure that you are providing good, helpful tips and solutions to other users, rather than just posting to increase your post count. It's better to have 20 quality posts than having 100 posts in general.

Regarding your experience with the Rock Star program, is it worth it?

- Yes! I love the RSP and I would call the moderators, staff, and the fellow stars part of my family. They're always nice and willing to help, and I love being rewarded for being able to help others - and just making another user happy every day makes my day, and I don't see myself leaving any time soon.

Once you are invited to the program, what kind of actions earn points? Do you just volunteer to answer the community's questions?

- Usually posting will earn you points, as long as you make those good, quality posts.

Do you have any other tips or advice for a newbie like me?

- I would say to just have fun while helping others! I think that being a Rock Star is worth it and it's something that I love doing. You can learn more about the Rock Star program using the link @Alex provided in his reply - and if you have any questions or need more help - be sure to reach back out as I'll be more than happy to help.

I hope this answers your questions! Have a great day 🙂

Hey @silas21

Great question! You don't have to create a Twitter account if you don't want to, and you also don't need to be part of the @AskRockStars Twitter department if you don't want to. There are some stars here that aren't part of AskRockStars and only contribute on the Community site.

I hope that helps! You can always shout if you need anything else 🙂

How long did it take you to become a Star?

I remember that it was a few months after I started helping out in the Community back in 2012 when it first launched. Staff saw that my posts were helpful and asked me if I wanted to be part of an "unofficial" super user group. This later evolved into the official Star Program we have today.

Were you aiming for that goal or just answering questions regardless?

At the time the program didn't exist, so I wasn't really aiming for it. In fact, it's partly because of my posts that the program was formed. I was just looking through the posts and I said "hey, I know the answer to that!". I just wanted to help other users be able to enjoy and use Spotify like I do every day, and 9 years later I am still here helping out.

Is qualifying as a Star based on the number of posts I make, or how many of those posts are accepted as solutions?

It's definitely "quality over quantity". There really isn't the right number of posts to qualify. Just make sure you are making high quality posts. I'd say try to make at least 10-20 posts a month.

Regarding your experience with the Star program, is it worth it?

The past 9 years have been a total blast! I say yes that it's totally worth being part of the Star Program. Spotify is like family to me: it's great to be able to join forces around something we all like which is music. 💚 If you like music, like technology, like helping people out, and getting the behind the scenes scoop on all things Spotify sounds awesome to you, then the Star Program is for you.

Do you have any other tips or advice for a newbie like me?

If you are looking to join the Star Program I would say to ease into it. There's a lot of things to be overwhelmed by, but if you take it one step at a time and learn as you go, then it will be easier to learn the ropes.

I am the longest member of the Spotify Star Program, so if you have any other questions, I'll do my best to help out.

Hope to see you join the program in the future! Best of luck! 🌟

Regarding the information from this page, is Twitter a fundamental part of helping the Spotify community as an aspiring Rock Star, or more of a 'supplementary' method, in additional to this site? I'm asking because I don't have a Twitter account. Is it worth creating one? Thank you

Any Rock Star or staff member can answer this. @MattStuda @Billy-J @Alex
