Spotify connect: multiple accounts - how to disconnect

Solved!

Spotify connect: multiple accounts - how to disconnect

Hi,

we are using a Spotify family account.

The usage is manly done with Android phones with different Android versions.

We also have a radio which has Spotify Connect (Medion MD 87090).
If my wife connects to this radio, everything is fine.

But if I want to cenntc, I get the error "Kann zurzeit nicht abgespielt werden" which means "couldn't play at the moment".

At the radio itself, there is no possibility to disconnect from Spotify.
And in the settings from my wifes account I also can't find anything about disconnecting from this device.

Any idea?
Regards,

Sven

Hi @Sven_B,

Thank you for your reply and clarifications.

In this case, the way the Spotify Connect API is implemented depends on the device manufacturer. Usually it should release the connection automatically when there's no playback or when the user selects a different device.

It could be that there's no timeout programmed into your specific radio. We understand that's not ideal, but if that's the case, there's not much we can do about it as we just provide the ability to connect to our API and catalog.

You can access your Account Overview and use the Sign out everywhere button to try to reset the connection, you can also check if the radio appears listed in your third part apps.

Please note that Sign out everywhere also doesn't work on all third-party devices, so we can't guarantee it will help.

Lastly, you can also check if your radio has any pending firmware update that could help resolve this.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Hey there @Sven_B!

Thanks for reaching out to us and welcome to the Community!

First it's important to make sure your phone and the radio are on the same Wi-fi network. Can you try restarting your router to see if that makes a difference for you?

We'd also recommend giving this a try on a different network, for example you can start a hotspot of your phone and use that network.

Let us know how you get on! We'll be here in case you have any further questions.

Hi,

all devices are in the same network and can see each other.

For me it looks like if one account is connected to the device which hosts "Spotify connect", no other account can override this pairing.

This means we always have to look for a browser to release the connection from the one account to the connected device in order to connect the other device?

This would be very uncomfortable....

Regards,

Sven
