Spotify doesn't connect to car stereo

For the last couple of weeks I have been unable to connect to the Spotify app on my car stereo through Spotify on my phone. When I attempt to do so, I can can establish and audio connection via Bluetooth, but the app on the stereo shows 'Connecting...', but doesn't connect. I cannot control Spotify via the stereo touch screen, and have to control via my phone.

 

I have tried a number of the troubleshooting tasks (uninstall & re-install app, unpair & re-pair Bluetooth connections etc.), but this has not solved the issue. I have ensured that the firmware on my stereo (Kenwood DDX4019BT) is up to date, and have raised the issue with JVC Kenwood, who tell me the issue needs to be rectified from Spotify's side.

The folks at our tech team are currently looking into this, so make sure to vote for the Ongoing Issue here, if you haven't already.  Make sure to provide us with the info we're asking for in the Status update in the comments. 

 

Though we can't set an exact time frame for when this will be fixed, it'll also be useful to Subscribe via the three-dots menu in the top right corner next to the title. We'll be sure to keep you updated with any news on the matter there.

I'm having the exact same problem with a DDX795 head unit. I have tried the uninstall and reinstall on my phone and did a reintialize on my unit. Will ne ER connect unless using Bluetooth. Plus my head unit does not even show in my available device list in the Spotify app. Would really like a solution or will change the head unit with something other that Kenwood.
