Spotify free on windows phone, yet still need premium account to log in ?

I recieved an email today, from Spotify, announcing that Spotify is now free on windows phone. However, when I attempt to log in, I am still told that I need a premium account to log in. What gives ? You announce that it's free, and the app is obviously telling me that it's not free.

I'm using a Nokia Lumia 800 (Windows Phone 7.8) Is it not free for this version ? If not, why not ? It's free for everyone/everything else, so why not my phone ?

Spotify no longer support Windows Phone 7.x I'm afraid.

Enabling Spotify Free requires an app update which unfortunately will not be made available on Windows Phone 7.x.

What version of Windows Phone and Spotify are you using?

i am using version 4.0.1.0 of spotify. windows phone 8.1.

in version 4.0.0.0 it was free.

I installed the application again, but nothing has changed

Very strange! Can you log into other apps ok?

Not a problem when logging in to other applications. Many people also have been affected by the same problem in Turkey
