Spotify no longer shows my BluOs player

Solved!

Spotify no longer shows my BluOs player

My Question or Issue

Spotify (on my laptop and iPhone) has stopped showing my BluOs device since yesterday. I have not made any changes to software or settings myself.
With my BluOs app (laptop, iPhone) I can play music on my BluOs device via different stations.
I have updated the latest versions of Spotify (laptop, iPhone), BluOs and Deco (wifi booster). I restarted the Wi-Fi network. Everything works fine except Spotify stopped showing my BluOs device. How do I solve this?

Hello,

Spotify provided the following regarding similar problems in past cases;
1. Go to your Spotify account page via a webbrowser
2. Log in on your account
3. Disconnect all devices via the account page (this is a special button to do this)
4. Unplug your router(s), unplug the Bluesound device
5. Wait 60 seconds
6. Restart all devices
7. Log in to Spotify on your (mobile) devices
8. Make connection with Bluesound (Spotify connect)
9. Try again
End your iPhone:

  1. Open Spotify. In the app's settings (you can access them by going to Home and then tapping the gear icon in the top right corner), tap Storage then Delete Cache.
  2. Head to your device's Settings, then tap General.
  3. Tap iPhone Storage.
  4. Select Spotify from the list of apps.
  5. Tap Offload the app and confirm. This will delete the app but its documents data will be kept.
  6. Then tap Delete App and confirm. This action should delete any leftover documents and data.
  7. Once the app is deleted, press and hold the Side/Top button and either volume button until the power off slider appears.
  8. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
  9. After your device turns off, wait a couple of minutes.
  10. Press and hold the Top (or Side) button again until the display turns on.
  11. Switch your device back on and install Spotify from the App Store.

Hey @GeorgeNederland,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

It does sound like you're experiencing troubles using the Connect feature. If that's the case, we'd suggest that you start off by checking this page out and trying the troubleshooting steps mentioned under "Don't see your device?" part of the article.

If the above steps don't help, we'd recommend that you make sure you've set up your devices correctly and that all of them are connected to the same network.

Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you.

Didn't help

Spotify premium app on xiaomi11t/android.

Spotify doesn't see bluesound device. Latter is properly listed on router as connected. After rebooting the bluesound, it is visible in spotify, but when I try to play content on it, it disappears from Spotify list of devices.

All has latest versions and has been rebooted and even reinstalled. Main recommendations from Internet have been followed but didn't help.

Sounds like another change in the spotify backend which is causing problems again.

Thx for your help.

Hi there @Mimscki,

Could you try creating a hotspot from another device and connecting yours to it to see if that does the trick? It's also worth rebooting your router to give it a fresh start, as it may help here.

If the issue persists, try editing your network settings in the Bluesound app by disabling DHCP and altering the DNS to one of the public DNS' listed below:

  • 8.8.8.8
  • 8.8.4.4
  • 9.9.9.9
  • 1.1.1.1

In case you don't see such settings in the Bluesound app, you can try these in your router instead.

Hope this helps. Cheers 🤘

my spotify does not link to bluos app anymore. The app does not appear in my computer apps as well

Everything is fine when connecting with blue tooth, however, wifi streaming doesn't appear to be available or recognized. My JBL speaker is capable of both Bluetooth and Wifi streaming. I previously had an Amazon music account and had no problems wifi streaming.

The plan I have with Spotify is student plan. The device i use is Samsung android. It's 5G capable.
