Spotify on LG TV only plays through mobile hotspot

Spotify on LG TV only plays through mobile hotspot

Had this issue since installing TV a month ago. I’ve already talked to support that referred me back to LG, who refer me back to Spotify etc.

Brand new LG TV (webOS) 2023 model. I can open, search, see my playlists on Spotify - basically everything except play music UNLESS I’m on my mobile hotspot. Even AirPlay is iffy and cuts out after a few seconds.

I’ve reinstalled the app a million times, changed any tv setting I could think of, finally reinstalled the tv software from scratch with no results. Everything is updated, my WiFi connection is strong (the router is literally an unobstructed 1,5 meter from the tv), all is good. But music doesn’t play and while Spotify sees my tv in the devices list, it just keeps connecting and connecting with no result when I try to connect from my phone’s app.

I’m at my wits end here. Anybody with similar (solved) issues??

Hey @Lavami1234,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for sharing these details about what's happening in this thread.

Do you experience issues with other apps on your TV as well?

If Spotify works via mobile hotspot on your TV then it's very likely that the issue itself is coming from the Wi-Fi network or the router so let's concentrate there.

As a starting step and if you haven't already done this, you can reset the router and check its settings, as well as make sure that a firewall is not blocking Spotify from playing.

Lastly, you may have to reach out to your network provider to make sure that everything's in order from their end as well.

Appreciate the cooperation and keep us posted 🙂
