Spotify opens on the same song and starts playing it over and over again

Spotify opens on the same song and starts playing it over and over again

  • I use Spotify premium on my poco x3 nfc android smartphone. When I open the app, even when it's playing a different song, it will open the page of this one specific song and start playing it. This has been happening for weeks and it's always the same song. Even when I'm playing music to a different device, e.g. the work phone that's connected to the speakers, it will change to this one song when I open the app. Not all the time, though, only like half the times I open the app. Does anyone recognize this issue? I've already tried rebooting the app and my phone, logging my spotify account out of all devices, deleting the app data and cache and reinstalling the app. Please help 'cause it's doing my head in.

Hey @finnmarius

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

Just to confirm, is this happening on all your devices or only on your phone?

If it's only happening on your phone, we suggest that you try performing a clean reinstall of the app. This one is more thorough than the usual one.

If this doesn't do the trick, we suggest that you log out everywhere by following the steps bellow:

  1. Log in to your Account page
  2. Click SIGN OUT EVERYWHERE

Note: This doesn't include partner devices (e.g. speakers, games consoles, and TVs), so for those go to your apps page and choose REMOVE ACCESS.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

“Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens.”– Maria von Trapp

For the past week spotify has randomly started playing "No Face" by Ghostface Killah and Ye. I had never heard this song before and I do not listen to either artist. It is definitely not on my queue.

I'll be listening to a playlist or an album, shuffle turned off, and that song randomly starts playing. Even when I'm in the middle of a song, it'll randomly switch to that song.

Is spotify being paid to play this song and get streams?

This is happening to me as well. The exact same song -- wth?

This is happening to me too on all devices. The same exact song

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out!

Just to make sure we cover all bases, have you tried the steps mentioned earlier in the thread by @Eni?

It's also worth clearing any stored cache from the device(s). You can do so by following the steps here.

Let us know how it goes.

Same problem with me, same song. Did a clean install work for anyone else?

My music keeps getting interrupted with No Face also! 3 times Friday, twice yesterday and 4 times so far today. No other songs. I'm doing a clean reinstall and will see how it goes.

I tried clearing my cache and deleting/reinstalling the app and I’m still having this problem. Would love to see someone from Spotify comment on the issue.

I tried clearing the cache and the problem is still happening for me too! Always No Face by Ghostface Killah and Kanye. I'm relieved it's not just me and also weirded out.

Hey folks,

Thanks for all your replies and for all the info shared.

In this case, we recommend removing all the apps connected to your account. To do it, go to your account overview> Manage Apps page and remove all apps you see there. You can easily reconnect the apps that you use whenever you want. After that, try for the next days to see if this behavior persists.

If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to continue investigating this behavior. In that sense, please send us the following:

  • Have you tried removing all the apps synced to your account? Has this issue persisted afterwards?
  • The exact date and time on which you noticed this.
  • The exact Spotify version you're running there.
  • The link to the song that is automatically playing. You can follow the steps here to share it.
  • Do you use any smart speakers? If yes, can you share with us the make/model?

Keep us in the loop!

I logged out of all 3rd party apps that have access to Spotify and changed my password. I haven’t played music today so I’m not sure if I still have this issue.

here’s the song link: https://open.spotify.com/track/4C397XtpxJdRNCEmVav0gX?si=Inke8V-YQ_2pYOglxRoNWg

I do use Sonos Arc, Ray, One, and Roam at our house but have also noticed the issue in our car when playing Spotify via Apple CarPlay.

Im running the most recent version of Spotify on my phone. v8.9.64

As for time, it happens quite a bit - maybe 3-4 times yesterday? The last one was around 7:20 PM CT yesterday.

This is happening to me too, it's also affecting my spotify listening stats. Someone pointed out to me in my friend activity that it says I'm always listening to this song. I did a receiptify, and now it's my top 2 most listened to song over the last month, which isn't true because I never listen to this song actively.

Also running into a similar issue - thought I was getting pranked by a friend! That said, I keep getting interrupted by "We Made It" rather than "No Face". BUT Last.fm is showing "No Face" as my top played in the past week. Have never heard / played it.

Very weird - but glad I am not losing my mind! Will try logging everything out and see if that resolves the issue.

I'm another user having the SAME PROBLEM with "No Face" by Ghostface Killah and Ye randomly playing.

Yes, keeps happening to me!

It's still happening to us all even with the suggestions you offered.
