This worked until recently but now (update broke it?) when I play a Spotify podcast on the Spotify for Windows 1.1.93.898.g58f5ba0b to my SONOS speaker, it plays for about 5 minutes and then appears to still be playing but you hear no audio. Track continues to run on spotify app but no audio is heard. I've tried a new spotify account with same problem. Ideas?

Hey @bigvikefan8084,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.
This type of issue after an update, is usually related to some damaged cache stored in your device from a previous version. We'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it's more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.
If the issue persists, would you mind checking if this happens with just that one, or with any other podcasts?
Lastly, could you check if this issue happens using a different Wi-Fi network? In case you don't have another one available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test it.
We'll be on the lookout.
Thanks for responding. I appreciate help as I've been trying multiple things for several weeks unsuccessfully. I tried your suggestion and had the same result. Played for about 7 minutes, the app continued to show it was playing but audio cut out permanently. This happens on every podcast I've attempted to listen to on the spotify app (i.e. not just one show or episode, different podcast shows Jocko/Rogan/Cleared Hot do the same) but I can play spotify music without it cutting out over the spotify app. I thought this might be due to some old SONOS equipment at home, but I have since moved to a new wifi network in my office with just a single SONOS Play5 device and am experiencing the same problem. I'm also experiencing the trouble with my desktop, my phone, and my laptop.
Hey @bigvikefan8084,
Thank you for keeping in contact.
Since the audio keeps cutting while using the Sonos speaker (regardless of the device casting the playback), the issue could be related to that specific speaker.
First, we'd recommend checking if your Sonos has any software/firmware update pending that could be affecting the proper behavior of the app.
If not, and to keep investigating, would you mind checking if the sound cuts as well if connecting a different speaker to your devices to see if it shows the same issue?
Also, could you confirm if the issue persists if you play it directly from one of your devices without connecting to the Sonos speaker? This will give us a better look at it.
We'll be on the lookout.
I'm experiencing the exact same issue, so it must not be something specific to @bigvikefan8084's speakers...
I have the same issue. Definitely a Spotify issue.
I still have the same issue to this day. I can listen to full podcasts on Stitcher and other services on my SONOS. I can listen to uninteruppted spotify music over sonos speaker too. Only spotify podcasts (which must be played from the sonos app instead of natively within sonos for some irritating reason - fix this and likely fix my problem) give me trouble. Honestly the last thing I want is yet another independent app running (spotify) and then insult to injury, said app won't work right. I was so frustrated by this perpetual problem that I cancelled my spotify and would keep it that way if not for my wife's spotify music addiction bringing it back. Now reinstated, I can just as before listen to podcasts fine through spotify apps when a simple speaker is connected to my computer, the ONLY failure is when listening to a podcast through the spotify app over sonos speakers. I'd love for this to be resolved.
Have the same issue as mentioned here. Please help to resolve this asap
Same issue here. The audio stop on Spotify podcasts (not music) stops on my Sonos speaker after about 5 minutes. It's still playing on the Spotify app but no audio on the speaker. The issue is on both mobile and desktop app.
Everything else plays fine on sonos speaker including music on Spotify...
Same issue here,
I start a podcast on my android phone, select sonos as a speaker and Spotify podcast stops after abaout 4-5 minutes. Same issue on Sonos Connect:Amp and Sonos Connect. When I hit pause and play, the podcast resumes for another 4-5 minutes. Please check and correct this.
I have exactly the same issue. Sound is muted after ~6 minutes only when there is spoken word (podcast etc.) not with music. Did you find a solution?
I have an old Sonos 5 and it cuts out, however when I switch to my new Sonos 5 using the Sonos S2 app it works fine.
Looks like a Sonos issue not a Spofify problem.
Good piece of info! I am using an old Sonos 5 speaker in the warehouse where I want to listen to podcasts throughout the day. I bet Sonos made some design change and Spotify is compliant with the latest model but not with that older gear. Frustrating, more designed obsolescence to add working gear to the scrap heap. I bet Spotify "could" fix the issue with a software change (other spotify content plays fine) but I see their standpoint now, why would/should they track old sonos gear requirements. It's like programming for windows 11 but also windows 95. Well I guess I will be forced to comply and get a new speaker.
Have exactly the same issue only when listening to a podcast. Music never cuts out. This has to be a Spotify issue, not Sonos. I cast to both Sonos amps and speakers. Have issue with all output devices.
Are you using a first generation Sonos speaker?
Same issue here.
Same issue here. All other podcast services fine. Music on spotify fine.
Same issue. The Spotify responses here and on other threads are useless, just keep repeating the same solutions that clearly don't work. I connect Spotify to SONOS, no issues with music, but always pauses every few minutes when playing podcast. This is a Spotify bug! It's not my internet since music is perfectly fine.
I am having the same problem. Playing Podcast (not music) sound stops (not playing) after approx 10 min. Stop playing and start again sound returns. I am connecting to a Sonos 1 system - 5 different devices.
Playing podcasts with earpods connected to the phone it works fine.
