My Question or Issue
Spotify keeps stating it's offline but :
- I can listen to the podcast I previously have listened to
- I can add new playlists from friends and listen to them
But I can't make any new search....
All apps are connecting fine to the internet except (and that might be a clue... or not) Magic Earth (but Waze for exemple is working fine).
I have already done :
- Clean reinstall
- Create new account
It doesn't change anything....
And since I don't have Premium, I can't manually change offline/online mode.
EDIT : and it gets weirder (and even more frustrating) : I logged in my account using the web interface, added some songs and new playlists and.... I can see them on the app on the tel o_O Although it still says it's offline (so I can't make any new searches)....
Hey there @shuffle123,
Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community.
Just to confirm, does this only happen on your phone or on other devices as well?
On another note, could you give a different internet connection a go to see if the same happens? If you've been using WiFi, you can try with mobile data or vice versa.
Just to check, can you see in the mobile app the songs and playlists you added in the web player?
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
Yes, you got it : I can see and listen on the mobile (which says it's offline) the songs and list recently added on the web app.
It's happening on my phone, I don't have other devices to test... I have a computer, but the linux package is not working (pgp and public key issue).
It's happening over Wi-Fi and 4g the same way.
Another interesting issue : I can log in on the web app on my computer but if I try on the browser of my phone, it says the username or password is incorrect. I'm using a password manager, so I know both the user name and the password are correct.... o_O 🙂
Hey @shuffle123,
Thank you for keeping in contact.
That's an odd behavior. To continue investigating this issue, would you mind activating the offline mode and turning it off again to see if it makes any difference?
If the issue persists, include in your next response the make, model, and exact OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running.
Lastly (and if possible), it would be great if you could record a short video where we can take a better look. You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to watch it).
We'll be on the lookout.
Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to follow through on this weird issue.
Well that's the problem I can't find any options to activate or deactivate the offline mode.....
I'm thinking this on/off switch might be available with premium version, and since I only have the free version, that would make sens I can't access it, but.... It seems I'm stuck in offline mode..... Although it synch with online changes (really odd).
I'll wait for your answer just in case I really miss a sub-menu somewhere to activate/deactivate that option, and I'll try to do the next steps with the vidéo.
For versions of software, here you go :
CalyxOS : 5.2.7
Android : 14
Spotify : 8.9.44.368
Thanks for the info @shuffle123! Apologies for the confusion on our end, the Offline mode toggle in the mobile app is indeed only available for Premium users.
Sounds like something is restricting Spotify's internet access. I'm not familiar with CalyxOS, but could you check your network settings to see if Spotify is allowed full access? Are there any other developer options you can tweak?
Keep us posted!
I am having the same issue on premium, app claims there is no internet access even though network is working - tried both wifi and mobile. Have not changed any settings, issue just appeared seemingly at random. iOS 17.5.1
App version 8.9.44.362
Upgraded to 8.9.48.455, still having the same issue
Working again after turning offline mode on and off now.
