Spotify suddenly shoots volume to MAX and blows Hi-Fi Amplifier

Spotify suddenly shoots volume to MAX and blows Hi-Fi Amplifier

Plan: Premium Individual

Country: Spain

Device: Denon AVR-X4500 H and iPhone SE

Operating System: iOS 17.4.1

I have a Denon AVR-X4500H amplifier and was listening to music from Spotify the other day (through Denon HEOS Music which is certified for Spotify) when suddenly and without me touching anything, it shot the Amplifier volume to the MAXIMUM. The noise was HUGE and scared everyone in the house. I rushed to the amplifier to put the volume down but did not reach fast enough and the amplifier went off by itself and since then it no longer works. The Power ON/OFF light blinks red. Now it's in a Hi-Fi repair shop (hope it can get repaired). Moreover, I don't know if the speakers were damaged too.

Anyway, this seems a BUG in Spotify software that should have been fixed long ago (I've read similar complaints from several users dating back a couple of years). It's crazy that Spotify can break Hi-Fi equipment ! Spotify should never change the Volume by itself. PLEASE SPOTIFY REVIEW YOUR CODE AND FIX IT !

I contacted Spotify support and chat with 3 different persons. They acknowledged a "technical issue" and said someone would get back to me by email but of course no-one has. THIS ISSUE DESERVES ACTION !

100% agree. Spotify FIX the bug AND COMPENSATE customers for DAMAGE. BE that game changer and LEADER

Update 17 April 2024: I got the amplifier back today after being repaired. The cost was 165 euros as you can see in the attached invoice. I was lucky: the damage wasn't too deep and the speakers seem not to be impacted.

@Spotify, how do you plan to compensate for this ?

Since the issue may happen again, I have set a lower maximum volume in the Amplifier itself (Setting > Audio > Volume > Limit) to prevent Spotify from damaging it again. Check this link: https://support.denon.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14894/~/how-to-set-a-volume-limit-for-an-avrs-main...

Hi Ivelina, have you noticed that this issue keeps happening ? See yesterday's post from lukewalsh-uk where he describes a nearly exact issue as the one I had. In his case, the speakers blew-up !! Check the pictures in his post: https://community.spotify.com/t5/forums/recentpostspage/post-type/message/user-id/26282525

Spotify really needs to do something or you guys will soon be out of business !
