I just want to know where exactly Spotify web-player files are located in Firefox. My problem is as follows: a couple days ago I tried to clear my Firefox cache files with Spotify for web still playing (had forgotten to switch it off). After that when I start any track on Spotify web-player it goes like this: 1) Spotify skips several tracks on, then 2) starts playing ads and they are playing all right, 3) then starts playing the track but goes mute after 9-10sec. still playing it 4) when the track ends, Spotify just stops, and nothing happens anymore , it just stays like that. If I skip the track manually, the same sequence occures - silence after 9-10sec and mute playing until the end of the track, then stop.
Mind, all of this happens only on one copy of Firefox. The desktop version of Spotify works just fine on the same computer. The Spotify web-player works fine on another computer and another copy of Firefox. So, this problem is located just in this my copy of Firefox. I have cleared its cache a few times, done log-in, log-out - nothing helps. I gather the straightforward solution would be to reinstall Firefox itself but I don't want to go to such lengths for that. I have to erase all the traces of the Spotify player in this particular Firefox. How can I do that?
Hi @mvlogmvlog,
Thanks for posting in the Community!
We understand that you've made some cache-changes to your Firefox browser, which resulted in performance issues of the web player. To our regret we weren't able to reproduce this situation on our end. One thing we can suggest is to try opening the web player in a private/incognito window of your Firefox, as this usually helps resolve cache-related issues. Let us know if this makes a difference.
If the above doesn't help, then you can also check for pending updates of your browser and run those. If there are no pending updates, then maybe a reinstall of the browser client is really your last resort in fixing this situation.
Additionally, you can read some more help info regarding our web player - here.
Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.
I'm facing the same error as the author of this thread for the week or so. One day Spotify just crushed and after refreshing it behaves similar to what mvlogmvlog described. Spotify after about 10 seconds of playing gets muted and then goes to another song. Then it doesn't even start playing and moves to the next song and so on and so on.
Currently my Spotify in Firefox is useless. I tried clearing cache, restarting FF, Windows, opening it in Incognito mode. All without success.
I would be grateful if you, Spotify, could resolve our issues. Installing app is not an option as I don't have possibility to install anything on my computer.
Best regards.
Hi folks!
Thanks for your replies.
@Wismat, would you mind trying to reinstall your browser to see if that makes the difference? Also, we'd like to know if the same happen using a different internet connection.
@mvlogmvlog, could you let us know if the same happens using a different browser? Additionally, if you're using a VPN, we suggest that you disconnect it to see if that does the trick.
We'll be on the lookout for your replies.
I tried on both types of networks (VPN and without) and it didn't work on both. However, today, after about two weeks the problem has been somehow resolved on its own and Spotify is again working as expected.
Hey folks,
Thanks for your updates on this.
@Wismat, great to hear and glad you shared!
@mvlogmvlog, if you're still experiencing the issue, mind making sure to try the following?
Hope the suggestions help. Cheers!
Do you maybe use the 32-Bit version of Firefox? If yes, try to use the 64-Bit version of Firefox. It seems that Google's Winevine support for 32-Bit-Browser has been terminated last year.
Hello. Try this thing in the about:config
https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/vy496o/cant_get_spotify_song_share_links_with_firefox/
Plan: Premium
Country: Hungary
Device: -
Operating System: Windows 11
Browser: Firefox 133.0.3 (the same is happening in Opera browser, too)
My Question or Issue
I use the most recent version of Firefox browser to listen to Spotify on my desktop.
It is not the first time, that when I start listening to it, it plays the music for a couple of seconds, then freezes for a couple of seconds, and then all this repeats.
Very annoying. 😞
I have gigabit internet connection, but only small percentage of it is used. Actually, nothing else is running besides (only DosBox).
Checking the browser network tab I see, that when it freezes, it is sending two PUT requests to https://gew1-spclient.spotify.com/track-playback/v1/devices/<some_hash>/state (and this is taking too long). Then comes a GET from https://audio-ak.spotifycdn.com/audio/<some_hash>?__token__=exp=<some_number>~hmac=<some_hash> which must be querying the music data, since when it finishes, the music continues playing (for a couple of seconds). Could you speed up (or omit) those PUT requests?
Or maybe the web-player is making wrong estimations and it is taking too long to download the data chunks (as seen in the attachment)?
