The amount of albums/singles shown on an artist page seems to be limited

The amount of albums/singles shown on an artist page seems to be limited

Hi! I noticed this issue many months ago, around the time of the big UI change for the PC versions of spotify and have been waiting for it to get fixed since then. But since nothing has happened yet, I guess I'll just write about it here.

There seems to be some sort of limit for how many releases can be shown on an artists discography. I noticed it on "Armin van Buuren"s page, who has multiple releases available on spotify, but will only show up when you search for them. For example his 2003 album "76" shows up when you search for it, but is nowhere to be found on his artist page.

I counted how many shows up in his discography, and it is 427 different releases that show up, with the earliest one showing up being from "October 16 2007". After every new release, the previous earliest release will disappear from the discography.

I have tested it in the browser version, the Windows 10 version from the microsoft store and the latest iOS version. The limit seems to be the same on all those platforms.

Hey there @Ruz1

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

You should be able to find all albums and singles on the Artist page. On the right side of the Artist page > Discography you can find Show all:

If you click on it, you should be able to see all the discography.

If you still can't find it, would you mind sending us some screenshots of what you're seeing on your end? Please include the results you get from Search and from the Artist page. You can attach them to your next response by using the Insert image option in the post editor. Make sure not to send any private info.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

 Thank you for the reply!
Unfortunately the Discography > Show all only shows the ~427 latest releases it seems.
Here's a screenshot of the furthest its possible to scroll on Armin van Buuren's discography at the moment:

As far down as I can scroll.png

As you can see, it only goes back to 2007. With his next release, whenever that may be it will only go back to 2008 since theres only one 2007 release remaining.
But his older stuff is still available on spotify if you search for it, like his album "76":

The problem with this is if you find an artist that has a lot of releases, it becomes impossible to explore their older releases in an easy way. Let's say I didn't know that the album "76" existed, and I just found Armin van Buuren on spotify, I would think he started his career in 2007 and didnt release anything before that.

Hopefully I cleared up the issue a bit more.

Hmm.. I found another artist page which  is called "Armin van Buuren ASOT Radio" which has uploaded around 1098 episodes of the ASOT radio shows, and for some reason I am able to scroll all the way down to the first episode from 2001. Maybe my theory of the discography only being able to show the latest 427 releases is wrong, because on the ASOT artist page im able to see all 1098+ releases.
At the moment I have only been able to find this issue on Armin van Buuren's page.

Hi there @Ruz1,

Thanks for the info and the research you've done on this.

I looked further into the matter and there should be no set limit for how many releases can be shown on an artist Discography page. In the case with Armin van Buuren, most likely the artist/ label themselves have limited which releases appear in the Discography. This includes Singles, EPs, Albums. This content might also vary across countries and regions, as some releases of songs and albums might be unavailable in some places, due to licensing issues.

You can consider reporting this to Spotify's content teams, following the steps in this support article. The appropriate teams would then look into this and take necessary action, if this is indeed an issue with some sort of item limit and not due to personal artist preferences or licensing.

Hope this info helps 🙂
