[iOS][Fire TV] Spotify Connect on Fire TV issues with iOS app

  1. Sound quality blows. What's the point of having Spotify Premium and a nice sound system if you can't get better than FM-radio quality sound?
  2. Connecting is cumbersome: a) launch Connect on Fire TV, b) play a track on iOS Spotify, c) click album artwork to make it go full-screen, d) pause track, e) tapon speaker icon to connect to Fire TV, d) wait several seconds for connection, e) press play
  3. Playback controls are buggy, especially if iOS screen locks: a) unlock screen, b) wait for app to load, c) playback screen shows wrong track and progress, speaker icon is green and animating (implying refreshing data), d) after several seconds, the speaker icon goes gray, e) press play to play current track on iPhone, wait for that to cause Fire TV Connect app to stop playing (otherwise it won't connect), f) press pause, g) tap speaker icon to reconnect to Fire TV, h) navigate to the song you want to play, i) press play

Ideally,

  1. Fire TV connect app should play at highest quality available, period.
  2. Have the app remember which Connect devices are available on a particular WiFi network, and add a "Connect" option to the main menu (see crude mockup based on old screenshot), in addition to the menu from the speaker icon on the playback screen. When connecting to a Connect device, it should launch the Connect app (like YouTube)
  3. Fix this. Ideally, have playback controls on the lock screen.
