when changing from one type of player to another, my shuffle function gets shut off

When I already have my phone on shuffle, then plug my phone into my car, the shuffle gets turned off and I have to turn it back on. It will also just restart at where the first song from the last time I clicked shuffle. It happens also when I change from listening in my car on the USB to listening with my aripods. I'll have it on shuffle, and it will just get turned off and when I click shuffle again, it restarts at the first song that played when I turned on shuffle last time and play through that list of songs, not creating a new shuffle "playlist." Hopefully that makes sense because I need it to go away, it is driving me crazy! It never used to happen! Please help!
